Checkers Employee Kills Customer in Wild Drive-Thru Fight Over Mayo Packets

A late-night food run at a Checkers in Florida ended in horror after a simple complaint over a fast-food order spiraled into deadly violence.

Elijah Travis Mackey, a 23-year-old employee at the Kissimmee Checkers, has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing a customer during a heated dispute over extra mayonnaise packets.

According to police, the incident took place just after 10 p.m. on May 21. The victim, identified as Wesley Robertson, reportedly grew frustrated with his order and asked several times to speak with a manager. Witnesses say Robertson insulted Mackey, allegedly calling him a “bitch” or “p—-,” sparking a confrontation that quickly turned deadly.

Instead of de-escalating the situation, Mackey is accused of climbing out of the drive-thru window, confronting Robertson face-to-face, pulling a handgun from his waistband, and firing a single shot to the chest.

Surveillance footage captured the chilling moment the employee left the building and confronted the customer near the front of the restaurant. Moments later, Robertson collapsed.

Paramedics rushed Robertson to Osceola Regional Medical Center, but he didn’t survive.

Mackey fled on foot and was later discovered hiding under a stairwell at a nearby hotel. When deputies found him, he allegedly said, “I have a gun on me,” and repeatedly asked, “Is dude okay?”

The next day, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office officially charged Mackey with first-degree premeditated murder. He remains in custody and is awaiting further court proceedings.

A second witness told authorities the argument may have started because Robertson was trying to get more mayonnaise packets, adding a bizarre twist to an already shocking story.

Checkers released a statement expressing condolences to the victim’s family and emphasized that Mackey’s actions do not represent the company’s values. “We are shocked and saddened,” a spokesperson said. “We are working closely with law enforcement and sending our thoughts and prayers to the guest’s family.”

The fast-food chain’s Kissimmee location on West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway is now at the center of a case that has stunned the local community—and the internet.
