Former NFL Star Falls from Second-Story Window After Shocking Gun Incident

Former NFL linebacker Myles Jack is facing felony gun charges after a dramatic early-morning incident that left the onetime Jaguars star hospitalized and in handcuffs.

Police say officers were called to Jack’s suburban home around 5:40 a.m. Friday for a welfare check after neighbors reported gunfire. “As our units arrived, we heard several shots from inside the residence,” Frisco Police spokesperson Sgt. Aaron Martinez said in a statement. “For safety reasons, a perimeter was set and surrounding homes were evacuated.”

Moments later, chaos unfolded. According to investigators, Jack crashed through a second-story window and fell to the ground before officers could reach him. He was taken to a local hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries.”

No one else was inside the home.

Police later confirmed the 30-year-old athlete had been charged with deadly conduct involving the discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony, and discharging a weapon in certain municipalities, a misdemeanor. Jack was released on a $100,000 bond.

Neighbors described the scene as “terrifying.”
“I woke up to what sounded like two gunshots,” said one resident who asked not to be identified. “Then I saw the flashing lights and heard an officer yell for everyone to stay inside. We had no idea what was happening.”

Authorities have not revealed who called in the welfare check or what may have triggered the incident. “We’re still gathering information,” Sgt. Martinez added. “Right now our priority is ensuring everyone’s safety.”

Jack was once considered one of the NFL’s most promising young defenders. Drafted 36th overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016, he became a fan favorite for his speed and tenacity on defense. But injuries — including a lingering knee issue from college — limited his rise.

He later played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and briefly signed with the Philadelphia Eagles before walking away from the league in 2023. That same year, he made headlines by purchasing a minor-league ice hockey team with his mother, telling ESPN he wanted to “build something outside of football.”

The abrupt end to his football career and now his arrest have left fans stunned. “It’s heartbreaking,” said former Jaguars teammate Telvin Smith in a text to a local reporter. “Myles was always the guy telling us to keep our heads up — I hope someone’s telling him that now.”

Investigation Ongoing

Police said Jack is cooperating as investigators work to determine what led to the gunfire. No officers were injured, and no firearms were discharged by police.

Jack has not yet issued a public statement.
