TRUMP SURGES IN POLLS: Approval Rating Hits 4-Month High Despite Media Doom & Gloom

President Donald J. Trump is riding a wave of renewed support, hitting his highest net approval rating in four months, according to a new InsiderAdvantage poll released December 20. The poll, conducted among 800 likely voters, shows Trump sitting at +8.4 net approval — his strongest numbers since August, when he scored a +10 bump following his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Despite nonstop attacks from the media and ongoing concerns over affordability, nearly half the country — 49.5% — now approve of Trump’s job performance. Only 41.1% disapprove, and 9.1% are undecided. In short, Trump is back in control of the narrative heading into a critical 2026 midterm year.

The numbers come as a major blow to Democrats, who were quick to pounce last month when Gallup reported Trump’s approval had dropped to 36% — the lowest of his second term. At the time, legacy media outlets claimed the “MAGA movement was cracking,” pointing to inflation worries and voter fatigue. But this new InsiderAdvantage poll paints a very different picture.

“This poll confirms what we’re seeing across red states and battleground counties,” said GOP strategist Linda Carruthers. “Americans may be frustrated with inflation, but they still trust President Trump to fix it. He’s the only one in Washington with a real track record of getting things done.”

The detailed breakdown offers even more insights into who’s standing by Trump. His support is strongest among male voters, with a whopping 59% of men backing his leadership, compared to just 33.9% disapproval. Among women, the numbers are tighter — 41.9% approve, while 47.2% disapprove. Among white voters, Trump continues to dominate with 57.1% support. Support among Black and Hispanic voters remains lower at 28.4% and 39.4% respectively, but Republicans believe there’s room to grow.

By age, Trump holds solid ground with older Americans. Approval climbs to 53.5% among those aged 40–64 and remains strong at 49.4% among seniors 65 and older. Among younger voters (18–39), support is softer at 43.5%, but insiders say those numbers tend to tighten when the economy is front and center.

Unsurprisingly, Trump continues to command loyalty among Republicans, with 83.5% approving of his performance, compared to just 24.6% of Democrats. That small slice of Democrat support, however, has caught some analysts’ attention — a possible sign that frustration with Biden-era policies is driving some crossover sentiment.

InsiderAdvantage pollster Matt Towery noted that the number of undecided voters in this poll was “unusually high,” particularly among independents. “This tells us that while Trump has a strong base, many voters are still watching and waiting,” Towery said. “It’s a window of opportunity as we approach the 2026 cycle.”

President Trump has continued to push back on polling he says is slanted by the left-wing media. In a fiery Truth Social post last month, he wrote: “So many Fake Polls are being shown by the Radical Left Media, all slanted heavily toward Democrats and Far Left Wingers… Fake News will never change, they are evil and corrupt but, as I look around my beautiful surroundings, I say to myself, ‘Oh, look, I’m sitting in the Oval Office!’”

While Trump won’t be on the ballot in 2026, his approval rating — and overall influence — will absolutely shape the midterms. Key Senate races in Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania could determine the balance of power, and Trump’s popularity in those states could be decisive.

Democrats are clinging to a few recent wins, like Abigail Spanberger’s surprise victory in Virginia and Zohran Mamdani’s win in New York City. But Republicans argue those results are local flukes, not indicators of a larger trend. “The media keeps betting against Trump,” said Carruthers. “And every time, he proves them wrong.”

As the year closes, one thing is clear: Donald Trump isn’t just surviving — he’s resurging. And with a divided nation heading into another high-stakes election cycle, his approval rating could end up being the number that matters most.
