Newly released FBI records are undercutting years of Democratic talking points about President Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein.
According to a 2019 FBI interview summary, a former Palm Beach police chief told investigators that Trump personally called him in the mid-2000s — not to interfere, but to support law enforcement’s effort to stop Epstein.
“Thank goodness you’re stopping him,” Trump allegedly said. “Everyone has known he’s been doing this.”
The account appears in a four-page FBI memo documenting testimony from Michael Reiter, the lawman who led the first serious investigation into Epstein beginning in 2005.
The document was first reported by the Miami Herald and surfaced publicly as part of a new Justice Department records release in early 2026.
The memo states that Trump told investigators he had already thrown Jeffrey Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago years earlier.
Trump allegedly described Epstein as “disgusting” and warned police that Epstein’s inner circle should be scrutinized.
“People in New York knew Epstein was disgusting,” Trump reportedly said.
He also allegedly urged investigators to focus on Ghislaine Maxwell, calling her Epstein’s “operative” and bluntly labeling her “evil.”
According to the FBI memo, Trump told Reiter he once encountered Epstein in the presence of teenage girls — and immediately left.
“He got the hell out of there,” the report states.
The document adds that Trump was one of the first high-profile figures to contact police once the Epstein investigation became public.
Reiter’s detectives were investigating allegations that Epstein recruited girls as young as 14 under the guise of massage appointments that turned sexual.
But instead of decisive action, the case stalled.
Reiter clashed with local prosecutors behind the scenes. In 2006, he went public, criticizing their handling of the case and apologizing directly to victims.
The investigation ultimately ended in Epstein’s notorious 2008 non-prosecution deal — a decision that allowed Epstein to avoid federal prison and continue living in luxury.
That deal was later widely condemned across the political spectrum.
The FBI memo has resurfaced as House Oversight Democrats release new Epstein-related images, including old photos of Epstein with Trump and former President Bill Clinton.
But critics note the contrast.
While Trump allegedly warned police and cut ties early, Epstein later flew repeatedly with Clinton aboard the so-called “Lolita Express,” a fact documented in flight logs.
For years, Democrats and media allies have tried to paint Trump as complicit in Epstein’s crimes.
The FBI’s own records tell a different story.
They show a future president urging police to act, distancing himself from Epstein, and identifying Maxwell as a key player — long before Epstein’s name became toxic.
Reiter has not publicly commented on the FBI’s summary of his interview.
But the document adds fuel to a growing argument among Trump allies: when it came to Epstein, Trump wasn’t protecting power.
He was calling it out — early.
And in 2026, that distinction matters more than ever.
