Country Music Star ‘Bloody’ During Concert After Being Hit by Flying Object

country star riley green gets nailed by flying phone onstage — then realizes he’s bleeding and needs stitches

Riley Green’s concert in Melbourne, Australia, went from high-energy singalong to total chaos in a split second after a fan allegedly launched a phone at the singer onstage — and it hit him hard enough to leave him bleeding.

The scary moment happened during Green’s show at Margaret Court Arena, where video posted to social media shows him performing when something suddenly comes flying out of the crowd. The object — reportedly a phone — clips Green near his ear, catching him completely off guard.

Instead of trying to power through, Green immediately stopped the show and took control of the situation.

He asked his crew to turn the house lights on so he could see the crowd clearly and figure out who threw it. Fans in the audience appeared to help by pointing and reacting in the direction of the suspected thrower as Green scanned the arena.

Within moments, Green singled someone out and made it clear he wanted them gone.

“This one right here? Get his fat a– out of here. Go on,” he said, as the person was escorted out.

Once security removed the fan, Green shifted gears and tried to steady the room. He thanked the crowd for showing up and supporting him, keeping the vibe from completely collapsing after the incident.

But then came the part that made people gasp all over again.

Green seemed to realize only after the fact that the hit had actually broken skin. As he continued speaking to the audience, he checked himself and asked if he was bleeding — then tried to lighten the mood with a joke.

“Hang on, am I bleeding? Y’all see how tough I am?” he quipped, before adding a crack about being grateful the object wasn’t a heavier model of phone because it “would have really hurt.”

Fans online quickly latched onto the moment, with many praising Green for stopping the show, identifying the situation quickly, and refusing to let dangerous behavior slide. Others were just stunned it happened at all, especially as more artists have dealt with people tossing objects onstage at concerts over the last few years.

After the show, Green gave a more serious update and confirmed it wasn’t just a close call.

“5 stitches later… sewed up,” he wrote on Instagram Stories, sharing that he’d needed medical treatment after the hit.

The timing is wild, too, because Green has been making headlines lately for being the rare modern country star who isn’t chasing the “Nashville at all costs” lifestyle.

Earlier this month, he spoke about why he still prefers living on his Alabama farm and says he has no plans to trade it for the industry grind in Tennessee — even though he admits he has “every reason” to move.

He’s said the farm is where he feels most like himself, and it’s also where he pulls inspiration for his music. While some stars live in studios and boardrooms, Green’s idea of a perfect day off sounds way simpler: keep life slow, do as little as possible, and spend time outside with family, animals, and his dogs. He’s even talked about hopping on a tractor and doing chores around the property when he’s home.

And Green’s career is expanding beyond music, too.

He’s also stepping into acting, making his debut in the Luke Grimes-led “Yellowstone” spinoff, “Marshals.” At the premiere, Green admitted that acting nerves hit him in a totally different way than performing a concert ever does.

He said going on stage doesn’t really make him nervous anymore because he’s done it so many times — but walking onto a set where he’s the “new guy” was a different kind of pressure.

Now, after a fan allegedly turned his Melbourne show into a headline-making incident, it’s hard not to wonder if performing live might feel a little different for him going forward.

Because this wasn’t a wardrobe malfunction or a technical glitch — it was a dangerous moment that could’ve ended even worse. A phone to the ear is bad enough. A phone to the face, eye, or temple could’ve been catastrophic.

Green may have tried to laugh it off in the moment, but five stitches later, it’s clear: this wasn’t just rude. It was reckless.
