Woman Threatened to Assassinate Trump on Golf Course Because She was ‘Bored’

A Florida woman who openly threatened to assassinate President Donald Trump is walking free after what critics are calling a shockingly lenient sentence—raising fresh concerns about the safety of America’s commander-in-chief in 2026.

Miranda Perez, now 35, was sentenced to time served—just 246 days behind bars—along with two years of probation after pleading guilty to making violent threats against the president. The case stems from a chilling social media post in July 2025, where Perez casually declared her intent to target Trump at one of his golf properties.

“Hey Trump I’ma go to your golf course and be the next shooter lol I’m bored,” she allegedly wrote on Facebook, adding laughing emojis.

Despite the explicit nature of the threat, Perez avoided additional prison time. As part of her probation, she has been ordered to stay away from President Trump, his family, and all Trump-owned properties. She is also banned from possessing firearms and using social media, and must undergo a mental health evaluation with mandatory treatment.

Law enforcement officials say the threat was taken seriously, especially given the heightened risk environment surrounding President Trump since his return to the White House. A senior law enforcement source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: “Any direct threat against a sitting president is treated as credible until proven otherwise. This wasn’t a joke.”

Perez’s past is adding to the controversy.

Court records reveal she previously made alarming threats about carrying out a school shooting at Barton Elementary School in Palm Beach County—where her own children were set to attend. In that case, she allegedly told an acquaintance she liked “violent things” and wrote messages about “shooting up” the school. The charges were ultimately dismissed after she was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial.

Still, critics argue the pattern of behavior should have triggered a harsher punishment in the Trump threat case.

“This isn’t a one-time lapse in judgment,” said a Florida-based criminal justice analyst. “You’re looking at repeated violent threats, including against children and now the president of the United States. Many Americans are asking how this results in probation.”

The case also comes amid a broader pattern of threats targeting President Trump—particularly at his golf courses, which have long been viewed as vulnerable locations.

In a separate and far more serious incident, Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested in 2024 after setting up what authorities described as a “sniper’s nest” near Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course. Secret Service agents intercepted him before any shots were fired.

In a disturbing letter recovered after his arrest, Routh admitted: “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump… I tried my best.” He even offered a $150,000 bounty for someone else to “finish the job.”

Routh, who represented himself at trial, was ultimately convicted of attempted assassination and multiple federal gun charges. He is now serving a life sentence plus additional years behind bars.

Officials say incidents like these highlight an increasingly dangerous climate surrounding President Trump, who remains one of the most targeted political figures in modern American history.

“Threats like this—whether online or in person—cannot be normalized,” a former federal prosecutor said. “The stakes are too high. This is about protecting the presidency itself.”

As Perez begins her probation, many are left questioning whether justice was truly served—or whether the system is failing to deter those who openly threaten the life of the president.

  1. ?  I wonder how many husbands she has \”gone\” through???????  I can think of a lot of reasons why one might assassinate Trump, but boredom would never be one of them………….

  2. She was given a break when she should really end up in prison for the rest of her life for threatening to kill the President of the USA.

  3. When she does actually murder or maim someone, what happens rests solely on the shoulders of this judge, who, of course, will blame it on something or somebody else.
