Tiger Woods Quitting Golf and Seeking Treatment After Recent Arrest

Tiger Woods is pressing pause — and the golf world is reeling.

The 50-year-old icon announced he’s stepping away from the sport “to seek treatment” following a shocking DUI arrest tied to a rollover crash in Florida, marking one of the most serious moments in his already turbulent career.

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” Woods said in a statement posted to social media.

The 15-time major champion was reportedly taken into custody in Jupiter Island after authorities found him in a concerning state. According to officials, Woods had “bloodshot and glassy eyes” and appeared “lethargic and slow” during the encounter.

When asked if he was on medication, Woods allegedly gave a chillingly vague response: “I take a few.”

Reports also claim opioid painkillers were discovered at the scene — adding another layer of concern to the incident.

Now, Woods says he’s stepping away to focus on something bigger than golf.

“I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health,” he said. “This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”

Despite the uncertainty, Woods struck a hopeful tone about what comes next.

“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally,” he added.

The announcement came just hours after a dramatic legal move — Woods pleaded not guilty to DUI charges on Tuesday, waived his arraignment, and demanded a jury trial.

It’s the latest twist in a career that has seen soaring highs and deeply public struggles. Now, as one of golf’s greatest figures steps away once again, fans are left wondering: will this be another comeback story — or the beginning of the end?
