Democrats found themselves taking heat over Easter weekend after a social media post meant to stir nostalgia instead sparked a wave of backlash over one glaring omission: Joe Biden.
The controversy erupted after the Democratic Party’s official X account shared an Easter-themed image from the Obama era showing former President Barack Obama standing near a person dressed as the Easter Bunny with the Washington Monument in the background. The caption was short but loaded: “Better times at the White House.”

That message quickly set off a storm online, with critics pointing out that the party seemed to be longing for the Obama years while acting as though Biden’s presidency never happened.
For many observers, the silence was impossible to ignore. Biden, the most recent Democratic president before President Donald Trump’s return to office, was nowhere in the image and nowhere in the caption. The omission fueled accusations that Democrats are already trying to distance themselves from the man they once defended so aggressively.
Conservative voices on social media wasted no time piling on. Christian influencer Renatta Oxendine was among those asking the question many others were clearly thinking: why are Democrats suddenly skipping over Biden?
The replies only grew sharper from there, with critics suggesting the post was more than just a harmless throwback. To many, it looked like a revealing glimpse into the party’s internal panic as Democrats struggle with the baggage of Biden’s time in office.
Fox News Digital columnist David Marcus went even further, describing the post as a brutal public slight against the former president.
The Easter uproar came on the heels of a similar embarrassment involving California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office. In that case, Newsom’s team posted a message urging followers to repost if they missed having “a President with a functioning brain,” while featuring an image of Obama, not Biden.
That post also drew immediate mockery, especially because Newsom had publicly backed Biden in the past. Critics blasted the omission as deliberate, with many arguing it exposed what Democrats really think about the former president now that he is no longer politically useful.
The Republican Party’s official account seized on the moment, reviving an older post from Newsom’s office that once praised Biden’s “physical stamina” and called him a president with “a functioning brain.” The GOP account mocked the contradiction, turning the Democrats’ own words into ammunition.
Although Newsom’s office later tried to clean up the mess with a separate post praising Biden’s “empathy,” the damage had already been done. By then, the narrative had taken hold: Democrats appeared far more comfortable celebrating Obama than standing beside Biden.
The episode has only added to growing speculation that Biden has become an awkward subject inside his own party. What was supposed to be a cheerful Easter message instead reopened questions about Democratic loyalty, internal fractures, and whether party leaders are quietly trying to rewrite the recent past.
At a time when Democrats are already under pressure on multiple fronts, the backlash served as another reminder that in politics, what gets left out can be just as revealing as what gets posted.

I don\’t get it. Obama may be the best president in my 80 year lifespan, followed by the worst. Dr. Schlatter
Hard to find anything worse than Obama-Biden. I thought that it couldn’t get any worse than Jimmy Carter but Obama and Biden proved me wrong.
