Bragg Makes Disgusting Last-Ditch Move

In a move that has ignited heated debate, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has suggested delaying Donald Trump’s sentencing in his ongoing criminal case until after a potential second term in office. The proposal, filed Tuesday, asks Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan to postpone any sentencing related to Trump’s 2024 conviction on 34 felony counts until 2029, raising profound constitutional and political questions.

A President on “Layaway”?

Critics have likened Bragg’s proposal to putting a president on “layaway,” a system where a desired item is reserved until full payment is made. In this case, the “item” is Trump’s sentencing, held in abeyance while he potentially governs the nation.

“This is unprecedented,” said legal analyst Mark Fitzpatrick. “You’re talking about a city prosecutor effectively tethering a sitting president to the judicial system for an entire term. It’s uncharted territory.”

Bragg’s filing argues that deferring the case would avoid the “potential chaos” of sentencing a sitting president, but the optics have drawn fierce criticism from Republicans and even some legal scholars.

Legal Limbo and Controversy

Trump’s case stems from his conviction earlier this year for falsifying business records related to alleged hush-money payments. The trial was contentious, with Trump’s lawyers citing numerous procedural errors and a subsequent Supreme Court ruling granting broad immunity to sitting presidents for “official acts.”

Bragg’s motion, however, sidesteps calls to dismiss the case outright despite the new legal precedent. Trump’s attorneys argue that some of the evidence used against him falls squarely under the Supreme Court’s protected categories.

“This trial was riddled with reversible errors,” Trump’s attorney Susan Greene said. “Now they want to dangle this sentencing over the president’s head for years. It’s blatant political theater.”

Justice Merchan has yet to rule on Bragg’s proposal but faces mounting pressure. Legal experts predict he may either uphold the conviction or delay the sentencing as requested, leaving Trump’s fate uncertain as the 2024 presidential term approaches.

A Dangerous Precedent?

The suggestion of a delayed sentencing has sparked fears of setting a dangerous precedent. Opponents warn that such a move could undermine the balance of power between the judiciary and the executive branch.

“This is lawfare at its worst,” said former federal prosecutor Jenna Martin. “Allowing a president to serve under the shadow of a pending criminal sentence opens the door to political manipulation. Imagine the leverage this gives state actors over federal decisions.”

Trump himself has remained defiant, calling the case “a sham from day one.” Speaking at a rally in Florida, he told supporters, “They’re not after me; they’re after you. I’m just standing in the way.”

What’s Next?

Justice Merchan is expected to issue a decision on whether to pause sentencing in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Trump’s legal team has filed motions to overturn the conviction entirely, citing the Supreme Court’s ruling as grounds for dismissal.

If Merchan declines to dismiss the case, Trump could formally become a convicted felon while serving as president, a scenario that could have wide-reaching implications for the nation.

Democrats, however, see the case as a win. Vice President Kamala Harris and others leveraged Trump’s legal troubles during the campaign, framing him as a liability.

But Bragg’s move has its risks. Critics say it feeds into Trump’s narrative of being a political martyr, energizing his base.
