An unsettling mystery has gripped New Jersey as unidentified drones continue to appear nightly in the skies, leaving residents and experts alike frustrated and alarmed. Despite assurances from authorities that the drones pose no public danger, questions about their origins remain unanswered—and suspicions are mounting.
Brett Velicovich, a U.S. Army special operations veteran and drone expert, is among those voicing serious concerns. “Whether it’s friendly or foe, our government has a lot of explaining to do,” Velicovich told Fox News during an appearance on America Reports. “I find it very difficult to believe that our government doesn’t really know anything about this.”
A Foreign Adversary?
Velicovich, who previously served as an intelligence analyst, says his instincts point to a foreign adversary behind the mysterious aerial activity. “If it was some secret military testing, the government would have put an end to it because of the hysteria,” he argued.
However, the Department of Defense denies any foreign involvement. Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh dismissed theories of adversarial activity during a Wednesday press briefing. “There is no Iranian ship off the coast of the United States, and there’s no so-called mothership launching drones towards the United States,” she said.
Growing Frustration
Since the sightings began on November 18, there have been over 180 reports of drones spotted across the state, sometimes hovering in place for hours—well beyond the battery life of standard civilian models. Officials acknowledge the drones’ sophisticated capabilities, which include evading detection by police drones and helicopters.
Despite this, authorities from Governor Phil Murphy’s office to the FBI have been unable—or unwilling—to provide concrete answers. Their reassurances that the drones aren’t dangerous have done little to calm residents’ fears.
“This is amateur hour,” said State Representative Brian Bergen, who stormed out of a Homeland Security briefing on the issue earlier this week. “They don’t know nothing.”
Security Concerns Amid Transition
Velicovich also highlighted the timing of the incidents, suggesting they could be linked to vulnerabilities in national security during the transition between administrations. “Right now, our adversaries see an opening in our national security infrastructure,” he warned.
Adding to the tension, Velicovich criticized outdated U.S. drone policies and infrastructure. “We’re set back 10 years behind China, behind Russia, and now our public is at risk,” he said, pointing to longstanding issues with the Federal Aviation Administration’s approach to drone regulation.
Residents Demand Answers
For residents, the nightly appearances have become a source of both fascination and fear. “It hovered over my neighbor’s house for hours,” said Melissa Pedersen, a resident who captured footage of one of the drones on December 5.
Videos of the drones, shared widely on social media, have fueled wild theories about their origins, ranging from military experiments to extraterrestrial activity.
Authorities “Scratching Their Heads”
Officials admit they remain baffled. “We’re scratching our heads here,” one local law enforcement officer said on condition of anonymity. “We’ve never seen anything like this before.”
With no definitive answers, the mystery drones have left New Jersey residents in a state of anxious uncertainty, demanding that someone—anyone—provide an explanation for the objects that continue to haunt their skies.

That\’s BIG BROTHER WATCHING YOU AND MAKING SURE YOU HACMVE WHITE NOT RED BLOOD
I meant HAVE WHITE NOT RED BLOOD
The Defense Department says it’s not foreign. So either it’s the government’s or they know who owns it. Either way it has to do with this admin. Probably using them to see who is visiting Trump. I still say a 12 gauge shotgun with 00 buckshot would take care of the problem.
They may be Chinese, they may be US, they may even be Iran, but one thing for certain, if the USA, OUR government people responsible, really do not know who/what they are, then they (our government agency) needs to be replaced — ASAP!
We have been lied to enough!
