A towering bronze statue of Donald J. Trump has been unveiled ahead of his historic inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. The statue, standing an imposing 15 feet tall and weighing six tons, was created by renowned Ohio sculptor Alan Cottrill and is already making waves as both a work of art and a political statement.
Cottrill, whose previous works include a statue of Thomas Edison displayed in the U.S. Capitol, said this piece was inspired by Trump’s indomitable spirit. “This isn’t just a statue,” Cottrill explained during an interview. “It’s a monument to resilience, strength, and the power of never backing down.”
The sculpture, titled “The Patriot Statue of Donald J. Trump,” captures the moment Trump raised his fist defiantly after surviving an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024. The harrowing incident, in which Trump narrowly avoided harm thanks to the swift actions of his security detail, has since become a defining moment of his political journey.
Commissioned just days after the attack, the statue was funded by a group of cryptocurrency investors led by Brock Pierce, a billionaire entrepreneur and Trump supporter. Pierce described the work as a tribute to Trump’s influence and resilience. “People will travel far and wide to see this,” Pierce said. “President Trump’s impact is unmatched in modern politics. He’s an icon to millions.”
The unveiling is set to take place Saturday evening at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. From there, the statue will embark on a nationwide tour before finding its permanent home in Trump’s future presidential library. Conservative activist Dustin Stockton, serving as an unofficial spokesperson for the project, hinted that Trump might make a personal appearance with the statue during the inaugural festivities. “It’s more than art,” Stockton said. “It’s a reminder of everything he’s fought for and achieved.”
For Cottrill, this commission presented an opportunity to immortalize a moment in history. “Trump’s story is America’s story—grit, determination, and overcoming odds,” he said. The work took months of meticulous craftsmanship at Cottrill’s studio in Zanesville, Ohio, with no expense spared. “This wasn’t about cutting corners,” Cottrill emphasized. “It was about doing justice to a larger-than-life figure.”
The statue’s backers, many of whom credit Trump for policies they believe bolstered the cryptocurrency industry, see the project as a symbol of hope for the future. “Trump represents freedom and innovation,” said Pierce. “This statue will stand for generations as a reminder of his legacy.”
The symbolism of the statue resonates with many in Trump’s base, especially those who view him as a fighter against the odds. As conservative commentator Sarah Mitchell noted, “This isn’t just about Trump. It’s about the millions of Americans who believe in the principles he’s stood for—patriotism, self-reliance, and faith in the American dream.”
Whether admired or criticized, the statue’s unveiling is sure to spark conversation. As Trump prepares to take the oath of office in the Capitol Rotunda, his larger-than-life likeness serves as a testament to the enduring impact of his political career. And for his supporters, it’s a powerful reminder of the man they’ve rallied behind: a fighter, a leader, and now, a monumental figure in bronze.

What flagrant idolatry ugh….
Not a good idea to make a statue of a living president.
