Mayor Slammed Over ‘Priorities’ After Shocking Chick-fil-A Shooting

Boston’s leadership once again raised eyebrows this weekend when Mayor Michelle Wu and other city officials expressed their sympathies—not to the victims, but to the family of an armed man who was fatally shot by an off-duty police officer while attempting to attack civilians with a knife.

A Deadly Confrontation at Chick-fil-A

The dramatic incident unfolded in Boston’s affluent Back Bay neighborhood on Saturday evening when two terrified individuals ran into a Chick-fil-A, pursued by a knife-wielding assailant. According to reports, an off-duty police officer, witnessing the unfolding danger, immediately identified himself and ordered the suspect to drop his weapon.

When the suspect refused to comply, the officer was left with no choice but to use lethal force, firing at the suspect, who was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Remarkably, no innocent bystanders were harmed in the ordeal.

City Officials Express Sorrow—For the Attacker

While many in the community commended the officer’s quick thinking that likely saved multiple lives, Boston’s left-leaning leadership took a different stance. At a press conference following the incident, Mayor Michelle Wu, rather than praising law enforcement for their swift action, instead focused on offering condolences to the assailant’s family.

“My condolences and all of our thoughts are with the family of the individual whose life has been lost,” Wu stated solemnly, failing to mention the intended victims or the heroism of the officer involved.

Her response was echoed by Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden, whose office is handling the post-shooting investigation. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” he said, neglecting any recognition of the citizens who narrowly escaped harm.

Wu’s Pattern of Controversial Policies

This latest move is consistent with Wu’s controversial tenure, where she has frequently drawn criticism for policies that appear more concerned with progressive optics than public safety. Just last summer, Wu was met with outrage when she proposed granting illegal immigrants and children as young as 11 the right to vote on how Boston’s public funds are distributed.

Critics called the plan “unserious” and “dangerous,” warning that it undermines both legal citizenship and fiscal responsibility. “This is nothing more than a stunt to pander to the far-left,” said local conservative activist James Callahan. “Boston taxpayers deserve better than to have their money decided by people with no legal stake in the system.”

Adding to her track record, Wu stirred further controversy in December 2023 when she hosted an exclusive holiday party for “electeds of color,” pointedly barring white officials from attending. The secret gathering only came to light after a staffer accidentally sent the invitation to the entire city council. In a hasty follow-up, Wu’s aide scrambled to clarify the error, issuing an awkward apology for the “confusion.”

Yet, rather than expressing remorse, Wu later shared a celebratory selfie from the event, appearing unfazed by the public backlash.

Ignoring Public Safety While Rejecting Federal Law Enforcement

Wu’s sympathies for criminals extend beyond this latest incident. She has repeatedly resisted cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, even as Boston has become a haven for violent offenders. Despite a Trump administration crackdown on illegal alien crime that led to the arrest of four alleged child rapists and a suspected MS-13 gang member in Boston just last year, Wu has made it clear that her administration will not support deportation efforts.

Her stance has left many questioning whether public safety is even a priority for the city’s leadership.

“Boston has become a sanctuary—not for hardworking citizens, but for criminals who exploit the system,” said retired Boston police officer Mark Reynolds. “When leaders care more about criminals than the people they terrorize, something is seriously wrong.”

Silence from the Mayor’s Office

As public outrage grows, Mayor Wu has remained characteristically quiet. Requests for comment from The Post on Sunday were met with silence, a familiar pattern when faced with criticism.

Meanwhile, many Bostonians are left wondering: if the city’s leadership won’t stand with law enforcement and law-abiding citizens, who will?
