Katherine Ryan, the once-loyal Meghan supporter, has now turned on the Duchess of Sussex. The Canadian comedian, 41, lambasted Meghan’s latest eight-part Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, calling her act “manicured and very forced.”
A Shocking Change of Heart
On her hit podcast, Telling Everybody Everything, Ryan didn’t hold back. “I liked Meghan Markle. I was rooting for Meghan Markle… though she is very Hollywood — even for me — and I don’t like that in people,” she declared. Now, her tone is icy.
Ryan claims Meghan has twisted the truth about her past. In her new series, Meghan boasts about growing up on TV dinners. Yet, in an earlier interview, she insisted, “We would eat farm fresh.” Ryan fires back, “It does feel like she has lied about whether she knew who Prince Harry was. These details about her childhood change and don’t add up.”
A Calculated Celebrity Persona?
The comedian argues Meghan’s transformation is all show. “She likes cozying up to celebrities. She craves that hundred-million-dollar deal and loves the fact that she’s married to a prince,” Ryan said. “I would rather someone lean into that and be like, ‘Oh my God, I used to be on Suits and now I’m married to a prince,’ than act all humble.”
Netflix wasted no time. Despite its debut just last week, With Love, Meghan is already set for Season 2. Ryan quipped, “People are hate-watching it, though. Who knows what Netflix is up to? They’re smart – if it keeps them watching, it doesn’t matter.”
Sussex by Design
In a twist that raised eyebrows, Meghan corrected a friend on-air, ditching “Markle” for “Sussex” during a scolding of Mindy Kaling. Ryan wasn’t impressed. “Let’s be honest about why you’re choosing Sussex. It’s a way to hang on to the Duchess of Sussex,” she shot.
The Backstory and the Fallout
Ryan’s transformation is as dramatic as it is public. Once an ardent defender of Meghan during the royal tell-all frenzy of 2022, the comedian now brands the former actress as a self-serving Hollywood creation. Critics across the country see Meghan’s polished façade as a thin veil over a carefully curated narrative designed for the spotlight.
For many Americans who are fed up with what they call Meghan’s constant reinvention, Ryan’s blunt critique resonates. This isn’t just a TV show—it’s another chapter in the saga of a woman whose story continues to split opinions.
Stay tuned as this controversy deepens and the debates heat up over Meghan’s true identity and intentions.

Sadly the one who will suffer most when this charade falls apart is Harry who has lost so much already and will probably not be welcomed back into the fold at Buckingham Palace. One cannot really blame him or maybe even Meghan for the pathos of this whole Greek type of drama. I sincerely doubt that she planned on marrying the Prince of Sussex at first. But as young men do not think with their brains but another part of the anatomy he was totally smitten. It will be interesting to see where this leads and just what the ramifications will be within the Royal Family. Very reminiscent of a similar incident when a King abdicated for an American women in the 1930’s.
