Crowd Erupts in ‘U-S-A’ Chants for President Trump at NCAA Wrestling Championships

“The crowd was electric. It felt like the championship started the moment Trump walked in.” — Clay Travis, OutKick Founder

The energy in the Wells Fargo Center exploded Saturday as President Donald J. Trump stepped into the arena for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Chants of “USA! USA!” thundered through the crowd, drowning out a few scattered boos, as the 45th and now 47th President of the United States took his seat among American icons.

Wrestling fans, student-athletes, and families alike were on their feet as Trump arrived, flanked by conservative powerhouses and national figures including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, OutKick founder Clay Travis, Education Secretary Linda McMahon, and House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, himself a former NCAA wrestling champ.

Senator Dave McCormick of Pennsylvania, who wrestled at West Point, proudly welcomed the president to his home state:

“Wrestling made me who I am. Grit. Discipline. That’s what this sport stands for. And that’s exactly what President Trump represents.”

This marks the second time in three years Trump has attended the NCAA wrestling championships — and his presence has become something of a tradition for the sport. In a presidency defined by breaking convention, Trump is embracing the arena floor just as much as the campaign trail.

“They’re warriors,” Trump told reporters Friday. “These young men — they train, they sacrifice. It’s about time someone in the White House respected that.”

From the Daytona 500 to the Super Bowl to UFC 309, Trump has made sports a rallying point for American pride — often bringing roaring crowds and viral moments with him. Earlier this year, Trump made history as the first sitting president to attend both the Super Bowl and multiple Daytona 500s. At UFC 309, he stood cage-side as Jon Jones handed him the championship belt and pointed across the octagon in tribute.

Trump came to watch champions — and he got a front-row view of domination. The Penn State Nittany Lions are crushing the field, chasing their fourth straight national title — a feat they’ve already pulled off twice since 2011. They lead with 169 points, a full 60 points ahead of second-place Nebraska.

“This is America’s sport,” said Jordan, who won two NCAA titles himself. “Toughness, rules, and a fair fight. That’s why it matters.”

Trump’s appearance in Philly wasn’t just about wrestling. It was a show of unity — and power. Alongside him were allies who represent the new conservative bench: Elon Musk, the billionaire innovator unafraid to take on woke corporate culture. Jim Jordan, House bulldog and former mat warrior. Linda McMahon, a wrestling mogul turned Cabinet leader. Sen. Dave McCormick, a military veteran and tech exec with Pennsylvania roots. Karoline Leavitt, the fiery White House Press Secretary. Also spotted: Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who attended Trump’s UFC appearance earlier this year.

Since defeating Kamala Harris in November, Trump has wasted no time showing where he stands — with everyday Americans, hardworking athletes, and the traditions that built this country.

“What I love about this crowd is they’re patriots,” Trump told Clay Travis during a brief exchange at the event. “They love the flag, love their country, and respect competition. That’s what we fight for.”

This weekend wasn’t just about wrestling. It was a symbol of the culture war taking place across America — and a reminder that Trump still commands the crowd.

Donald Trump didn’t just attend the NCAA wrestling finals. He took center stage, bringing with him a message of strength, tradition, and pride. In a world of woke protests and declining patriotism, this was a red, white, and blue celebration — and the crowd knew it.

“The champ is here,” one fan shouted as Trump waved from the stands. And for many in the arena, it felt like the real main event had already arrived.
