Chilling Video Emerges Before Fatal Air India Crash: ‘Nothing Was Working’

Disturbing new video has surfaced showing the doomed Air India jet had serious electrical problems hours before it crashed in a fiery tragedy near Ahmedabad, India, claiming hundreds of lives.

Passenger Akash Vatsa, who had flown on the Boeing Dreamliner earlier that day from Delhi to Ahmedabad, captured and shared footage that has sent shockwaves through aviation circles.

“Nothing is working, absolutely nothing,” Vatsa says in the alarming clip. “The air conditioning isn’t functioning. The TV screens are dead. Even the call buttons for cabin crew aren’t operational. Not even the lights work.”

The registration code on Vatsa’s video clearly matches the crashed aircraft, VT-ANB, deepening concerns about potential negligence or maintenance failures.

Originally intending to report the conditions directly to Air India, Vatsa felt compelled to share his video publicly following news of the devastating crash. “People needed to know,” Vatsa explained. “I had to highlight the serious issues with this plane.”

Flight 171, departing Ahmedabad just after 1 p.m. local time, never made it far from the runway. Moments after takeoff, the Boeing 787 rapidly lost altitude and plummeted into a densely populated residential area near BJ Medical College, triggering a catastrophic explosion that could be seen miles away.

Experts immediately began probing potential causes, ranging from bird strikes disabling both engines simultaneously to critical engine malfunctions exacerbated by heavy fuel loads intended for the long-haul flight to London’s Gatwick Airport.

Lt. Col. John R. Davidson, a former U.S. Air Force pilot and aviation consultant, stated, “The data shows the plane reached takeoff speed but failed to climb properly. This indicates either a severe mechanical failure or stall.”

Capt. Saurabh Bhatnagar, an aviation expert and former senior pilot, added, “It looks like multiple bird strikes incapacitated both engines. It happened fast—perfect takeoff and then a sudden, catastrophic descent.”

The crash marks the first-ever disaster involving Boeing’s state-of-the-art 787 Dreamliner, raising critical questions about safety standards and oversight.

Indian authorities are now examining the wreckage and have recovered the aircraft’s black box, hoping it will reveal precisely what went wrong in those terrifying final moments.

Boeing has pledged cooperation, stating they are “gathering information urgently” and stand ready to assist investigators and Air India. But as the nation mourns its worst aviation disaster in decades, troubling questions linger about why clear warning signs apparently went unaddressed, potentially dooming Flight 171 from the start.
