FBI Arrests LA Riot Leader Who Distributed ‘Bionic Shield’ Face Masks to Protesters

Federal agents have arrested a man they say played a key role in fueling the chaos on the streets of Los Angeles during recent anti-ICE protests—allegedly by handing out tactical gear to demonstrators.

The suspect, 34-year-old Alejandro Theodoro Orellana, was taken into custody by the FBI on Thursday morning and is now facing a charge of conspiracy to commit civil disorder, according to U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli.

Orellana is accused of driving a truck loaded with “Bionic Shield” face shields that were seen being distributed to protesters during violent street demonstrations earlier this week. Video footage aired by FOX 11 shows dozens of activists swarming the vehicle to grab protective gear—raising questions about how coordinated the unrest really is.

“These riots appear to be well-orchestrated, coordinated, and well-funded,” Essayli told Fox News. “It’s a huge priority for us to identify and arrest those organizing and supporting these violent demonstrations.”

Orellana, who was spotted in the footage wearing goggles and a face mask, was allegedly seen speaking to protesters from the driver’s side of the truck as the gear was being distributed. Authorities say the footage was key in identifying him.

His arrest comes as President Trump ordered 2,000 National Guard troops to deploy to Los Angeles in response to the escalating violence. Rioters have been hurling rocks, setting fires, and clashing with federal agents since the weekend, according to officials.

The Department of Homeland Security also issued a stern warning to those involved.

“ICE and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law,” said Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “If you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent.”

Meanwhile, the FBI is also hunting 40-year-old Elpidio Reyna, who was caught on camera allegedly throwing bricks at federal agents in Paramount. Reyna is charged with assaulting a federal officer and faces up to eight years behind bars.

“WANTED: Elpidio Reyna can run, but he can’t hide,” said Essayli in a statement. “This was a brazen attack caught on film that could have ended in tragedy.”
