Las Vegas lit up for all the wrong reasons Saturday night after someone reportedly threw fireworks from a moving vehicle, triggering a fiery explosion in front of some of the Strip’s most iconic casinos.
Witnesses described a sudden “huge boom” that rocked the 3700 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard, near the Aria Resort and Casino and Planet Hollywood. Flames quickly engulfed a palm tree, forcing police to rush into the street and block off traffic as the blaze threatened to spread.
“This was crazy. Never in my life would I have expected something like this,” said one bystander in a TikTok video, still shaken from the shock of the explosion. Another clip shows a white vehicle peeling away from the scene just moments after the fire erupted.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the chaos unfolded when “an occupant in a vehicle threw fireworks,” setting the palm tree ablaze. The fire was swiftly contained, but the suspects remain on the run.
Videos from the scene show flashing lights, stunned crowds, and a tree engulfed in flames as smoke billowed through the neon glow of the Vegas Strip. Officers were seen pointing out the blaze to one another as fire crews worked to douse it.

So far, there are no reports of injuries, but authorities have not confirmed the extent of the damage. The Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and the Aria Resort have not yet commented on the situation.
The incident comes less than a week after a separate tragedy on the Strip, when a gunman fatally shot two people during a livestream. That suspect has since been arrested and charged.
As for Saturday’s explosive act, police are urging anyone with footage or information to come forward.
“Everybody stay safe out here in Las Vegas, baby,” one TikTok user added. “It’s wild right now.”
