Kristi Noem Rushed to Hospital by Ambulance After Sudden Medical Emergency

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was rushed to a Washington, D.C. hospital by ambulance Tuesday after a frightening medical episode left top officials on edge.

Sources tell CNN the 53-year-old secretary suffered a serious allergic reaction early in the day. Emergency crews transported Noem to the hospital out of what an aide described as “an abundance of caution.” She is reportedly conscious and alert.

Department spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement, “Secretary Noem had an allergic reaction today. She was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution. She is alert and recovering.”

Noem’s medical scare comes on the heels of a string of high-profile public appearances and controversial headlines. Just days ago, she was on the frontlines in California, joining Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers during dramatic raids in Huntington Park, Los Angeles County. According to NBCLA, Noem participated in at least two ICE operations on June 12—sparking headlines and heated reactions.

That same day, Noem led a charged press conference on immigration. The event spiraled out of control when California Senator Alex Padilla attempted to question Noem, only to be forcibly removed, wrestled to the ground, and handcuffed by security. The incident went viral, with critics accusing Noem’s team of overreach, while supporters praised her “no-nonsense” approach.

Noem kept a packed schedule in the days following. On Saturday, she was seen at President Donald Trump’s much-discussed military birthday parade in D.C.—an event notable for its surprisingly low turnout. On Father’s Day, she shared a heartfelt tribute to her husband, Bryon Noem, with her followers on X (formerly Twitter).

The secretary was also recently pictured at Fort Detrick, Maryland, alongside Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Senator Rand Paul, visiting the military’s biohazard research labs—a move that drew its own share of scrutiny and speculation.

Security remains tight at the D.C. hospital where Noem is being treated. Eyewitnesses report several Secret Service agents posted at all entrances, raising questions about the severity of her condition and the ongoing safety of senior officials.

While Secretary Noem is said to be “recovering,” the incident has set off a wave of concern across Washington. Allies and critics alike are watching closely for further updates on her health and what this sudden emergency might mean for the Department of Homeland Security.

This is a developing story. Check back for more details as they become available.
