Biden Fumbles with Beach Chair During 4th of July Weekend (Video)

The beach was sunny, but former President Joe Biden’s Fourth of July weekend got off to a rocky start—literally. Onlookers were stunned Thursday as the 82-year-old struggled to set up a beach chair near his son Hunter’s luxury Malibu home, marking his first Independence Day out of office since bowing out of the 2024 race.

Witnesses described a bizarre scene: the former president crouched in the sand, wrestling with a folding chair while grandchildren Finnegan and Beau Jr. played nearby. First Lady Jill Biden sat quietly under a bright red umbrella, offering no assistance.

“Watching him try to handle that chair was honestly tough,” said Kyle McCafferty, a nearby beachgoer. “It was like watching someone fight a jellyfish.”

The images—already going viral—have added fresh fuel to mounting questions about Biden’s physical and cognitive health, especially as multiple investigations now dig into whether he was fully in control during his time in the White House.

A Presidency on Autopilot?

Since stepping down last year following a widely criticized debate performance against President Donald Trump, Biden has largely kept to the shadows—surfacing occasionally for photo ops, tightly scripted speeches, and family vacations. But behind the scenes, congressional Republicans are ramping up efforts to determine just how much of the Biden presidency was managed by unelected staffers.

Investigators are especially focused on Biden’s use of the “autopen,” a mechanical signature device. Sources tell us lawmakers want to know whether key executive orders and presidential pardons were signed without Biden’s direct involvement or even knowledge.

“This isn’t just about optics anymore,” said Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chair of the House Oversight Committee. “The American people deserve to know whether their president was calling the shots—or whether someone else was running the show.”

White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor is scheduled to testify before Congress on July 9. Lawmakers are expected to grill him not only about the use of the autopen, but also Biden’s recent prostate cancer diagnosis—an illness the administration kept quiet until after he left office.

Notably, Biden never released results from cognitive tests during his presidency, nor did he provide prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screenings, which could have detected the cancer before it progressed.

‘I’m Not Mentally Incompetent’

In a rambling May 30 press conference, Biden lashed out at his critics, particularly CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson, co-authors of the tell-all “Original Sin,” which alleges a massive cover-up by top White House aides to conceal the president’s declining cognition.

“You can see that I’m mentally incompetent and I can’t walk and I can beat the hell out of both of them,” Biden bizarrely declared, drawing concern from even left-leaning pundits.

In June, Biden released a carefully worded statement insisting, “I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation, and proclamations. Any suggestion that I didn’t is ridiculous and false.”

But even some former allies aren’t convinced.

“Joe was a different guy by the end,” said a former White House staffer, speaking on condition of anonymity. “There were days when he didn’t remember basic names or briefings. But the staff kept pushing him out in front of the cameras like everything was normal.”

More Vacation Than Work?

Thursday’s Malibu beach outing is just the latest in a long list of luxury getaways. Biden spent a staggering 577 days—nearly 40% of his presidency—on vacation, according to public records. That includes lengthy stays in St. Croix, Nantucket, and his Delaware beach house.

Critics say the footage of Biden tripping on sand or falling off his bike was more than just meme-worthy—it was symbolic.

“This wasn’t a gaffe machine,” said conservative commentator Dana Loesch. “It was a man clearly not up for the job, and now we’re finding out just how bad it really was.”

After packing up at the beach, Biden was later seen dining with Hunter at the upscale Nobu sushi restaurant—an establishment known as much for its elite clientele as its sky-high prices.

The timing is notable. Exactly one year ago, Biden’s disastrous debate with Trump, marked by stammering and confusion, became the final nail in the coffin for his 2024 campaign. Now, as President Trump pushes forward with a second-term agenda and GOP leaders hunt for accountability, Biden seems content soaking up the sun—while the shadows of his presidency grow longer.

Stay tuned. The questions about who was really running the country are just beginning.
