Grizzly Bear Chases NHL Team’s Mascot (Video)

A beloved NHL mascot had a close encounter of the wild kind during a recent fishing trip in Alaska — and the whole tense moment was caught on camera.

The Seattle Kraken’s quirky blue-haired mascot, Buoy the sea troll, found himself face-to-face with a grizzly bear at Katmai National Park while fly fishing with the team. Video posted on social media shows Kraken center John Hayden casting a line in a stream before suddenly spotting the massive animal in the distance.

“We got a bear,” Hayden calmly announces as the camera captures the grizzly approaching. Another voice quickly adds, “Oh, I got to break you off now. Hey, Sam, we got a bear — we’ve got to move down.”

In the clip, the bear makes a brief lunge toward Buoy, startling the group, before stopping short and backing off. Thankfully, no one — human or troll — was hurt.

The Kraken shared the heart-pounding footage on social media with a cheeky caption: “TROLL NARROWLY ESCAPES BEAR ENCOUNTER. No trolls or bears were hurt in the making. Always respect wildlife in their natural habitat.”

Lesson learned: even trolls need to watch their back in bear country.
