FBI Investigating ‘Disturbing Anomalies’ Surrounding Charlie Kirk Assassination

“We won’t stop until every stone is turned and every accomplice exposed,” Patel vows as America mourns a conservative icon.

FBI Director Kash Patel is vowing to get to the bottom of the assassination of conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk, confirming his agency is aggressively investigating “disturbing anomalies” and “unanswered questions” about the brazen daylight killing at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.

“We are chasing down every angle — every text, every flight record, every whisper of a second shooter,” Patel said in a public statement released Sunday on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Patel, who was appointed FBI Director by President Donald Trump earlier this year, has assured Americans that his agency is “working around the clock” to uncover the full truth.

“Justice for Charlie Kirk is not optional — it is our duty,” he added.

The director confirmed that his agents are actively digging into multiple theories that have emerged in the wake of the killing, including:

  • The angle and trajectory of the sniper’s bullet
  • A cryptic text message confession
  • Conversations on Discord, a platform favored by radicals and extremists
  • Unusual hand signals near Kirk seconds before the shot was fired
  • The transport and disposal of the murder weapon
  • A suspicious aircraft that appeared to vanish from radar shortly after the shooting

Social media sleuths pointed to a private jet that departed from a nearby airstrip in Orem, Utah, minutes after the assassination. But Patel tamped down those concerns—for now.

“After interviews with the pilot and a full FAA review, we believe the transponder issue was due to spotty rural coverage,” he said. “But we aren’t closing that file just yet.”

Law enforcement has confirmed that DNA found at the scene matched the primary suspect, whose name has not yet been released due to prosecutorial concerns.

However, a senior FBI official speaking on background told this outlet that “at least 20 individuals” who interacted with the suspect on Discord remain under scrutiny.

“This doesn’t look like a lone wolf,” the official said. “There are indications of planning and coordination.”

At a memorial service Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Vice President JD Vance addressed a crowd of more than 30,000 supporters who came to honor the Turning Point USA founder.

“Last week, we brought my dear friend Charlie home one last time,” Vance posted on X. “We lost a giant — not just of the conservative movement, but of American patriotism.”

Vance added, “Charlie Kirk died standing for truth. He died standing for liberty. And we will not forget.”

Kirk was fatally shot while speaking to a packed auditorium of students at Utah Valley University during a Turning Point Campus Tour stop. Just hours earlier, he had posted to X calling on the Department of Education to defund colleges that suppress free speech.

He was 31 years old and leaves behind his wife Erika and their three children.

“This has left a gaping hole in our movement,” said Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL). “Charlie was fearless. He was targeted for telling the truth.”

President Donald J. Trump, who attended a private vigil with the Kirk family last week, issued a short but powerful statement:

“Charlie Kirk was a warrior for freedom. He was assassinated for speaking the truth. We will not forget. We will not forgive. And under my leadership, the killers—and anyone who helped them—will face the full weight of justice.”
