Elton John Says Trump Could Be “One of the Greatest Presidents Ever”

Elton John just gave President Donald Trump a compliment that’s turning heads — and it wasn’t about his golf game.

The 78-year-old music legend told Variety this week that if Trump succeeds in eradicating AIDS by 2030, “he’d be one of the greatest presidents in history.”

The “Tiny Dancer” singer was discussing his decades-long fight against HIV through the Elton John AIDS Foundation when the topic turned political. Despite being known for his sharp takes, Elton praised both parties — and even singled out Trump and Sen. Lindsey Graham for supporting medical advances that could end the disease for good.

“To see us come so far with the medical and scientific advances, and to think this is the only disease that can be completely cured in one’s lifetime,” Elton said. “If [Trump] ended AIDS, that would really be a feather in his cap.”

Earlier this year, the FDA approved a groundbreaking twice-a-year HIV prevention shot from Gilead Sciences that was nearly 100% effective in clinical trials — a huge leap toward Trump’s stated goal of ending HIV by 2030.

White House spokesman Kush Desai confirmed to Fox News Digital that the administration is “robustly tackling” the epidemic through global partnerships and new treatment strategies.

Still, Elton didn’t shy away from calling out countries — including the U.S. — for cutting HIV-related funding. “It’s very frustrating when you’ve got the tools in your hand to end it, and then you find that countries won’t help,” he said.

Despite political divides, Elton has kept a surprisingly friendly rapport with Trump, even laughing when the president famously dubbed Kim Jong Un “Little Rocket Man” — a nod to one of Elton’s own hits.

“I laughed, I thought that was brilliant,” he said. “Donald’s always been a fan of mine, and he’s been to my concerts many, many times.”

Whether Trump takes Elton’s advice remains to be seen — but if ending AIDS becomes his legacy, the pop icon might just have called it first.
