Hundreds of Minnesota state employees say Kamala Harris and the Democratic National Committee were warned—again and again—not to trust Tim Walz.
They say they sent messages, posted online, and even tagged Harris directly in 2024, warning her that Walz was incompetent, corrupt, and dangerous. Then she made him her running mate anyway.
“We tried our best to keep the public informed,” wrote the Minnesota Department of Human Services Employees account, representing over 480 staffers. “Maybe Kamala Harris turned a blind eye to fraud like her running mate?”
The warnings were loud and clear. They say Walz looked the other way as hundreds of millions in taxpayer money were stolen. And worse—they claim his administration retaliated against anyone who tried to stop it.
Under Walz’s watch, Minnesota became ground zero for one of the largest pandemic-era scams in U.S. history.
Federal prosecutors have now charged 78 people in a scheme that stole over $300 million from a federal child nutrition program. The so-called “Feeding Our Future” scam was run through fake companies billing the government for meals that were never served.
Many of the suspects were tied to Minnesota’s Somali community. Some even tried bribing jurors—one woman was caught offering $120,000 in cash to sway a verdict.
U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger called it “a massive, organized theft of federal funds.”
When asked in late 2024 if he took any responsibility for the failure, Walz refused to answer. Instead, he blamed Donald Trump.
“I’m not going to scapegoat immigrants because Donald Trump wants me to,” he told reporters.
But critics say Walz never answered the actual question—how did hundreds of millions vanish under his leadership, and why did he allow whistleblowers to be silenced?
According to the DHS employee group, Walz’s administration punished and threatened staff who tried to report the fraud. They say the retaliation was real—and that the governor actively tried to keep the scandal buried.
“He caused incredible harm to our state and agencies,” the group wrote. “He retaliated against whistleblowers. We told Kamala. She didn’t care.”
Republican lawmakers in Minnesota are now working with the whistleblowers directly.
State Rep. Marion Rarick said she met with the DHS group earlier this year and confirmed their claims are legitimate. She serves on the state’s new Fraud Prevention and Oversight Committee.
Rep. Kristin Robbins called the whistleblowers “heroes” and said, “They’re trying to clean up state government after Tim Walz’s utter failure to hold anyone accountable.”
Why would Harris pick Walz as her VP knowing all this?
She was publicly tagged in posts warning her that Walz had allowed mass fraud, punished state workers, and failed his own state. She chose him anyway.
Now, after their 2024 defeat and with the scandal growing worse by the day, critics say Harris owns the fallout.
President Trump has repeatedly blasted Walz.
“Tim Walz does nothing—through fear, incompetence, or both,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Minnesota deserves better. So does the rest of the country.”
The DOJ says more charges are coming. Over 50 people have already been convicted.
Meanwhile, the silence from the DNC and Kamala Harris remains deafening.
“We want good governance restored,” the DHS employee group said. “This was never about politics. It was about telling the truth.”
