Talk about royal absence! Fans were quick to notice that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were missing from Kate Middleton’s dazzling Together at Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey — and now Eugenie’s speaking out.
The Princess of Wales, 43, hosted her fifth festive concert on Dec. 5, surrounded by William, their kids, and a parade of royals glittering under the Abbey lights. But the York sisters? Nowhere to be seen.
Eugenie, 35, took to Instagram afterward, posting what many are calling a bittersweet message:
“Wish Bea and I could have been celebrating tonight with our family,” she wrote, tagging the Prince and Princess of Wales. “What an amazing message of love and hope.”
The message, shared over a photo of the official program nestled in a Christmas tree, came just hours after photos of Kate’s glamorous night flooded social media — fueling whispers of family tension.
Royal insiders insist there’s no bad blood. PEOPLE reported that Beatrice and Eugenie were invited months in advance but had “prior commitments.” Still, their no-show didn’t go unnoticed — especially with their father, the disgraced former Prince Andrew, making headlines again this fall.
In October, King Charles stripped Andrew of his titles and honors in a long-awaited royal housecleaning, forcing him to give up his Windsor estate and officially ending the “Duke of York” era. Beatrice and Eugenie, however, remain Her Royal Highnesses under the rules set by King George V.
Beatrice, 37, and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have attended every year since Kate launched the carol service in 2021, often bringing along Edo’s son. Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank have also made it an annual tradition — until now.
So was this really a schedule conflict… or a subtle sign of shifting alliances within The Firm? Either way, Eugenie’s carefully worded post made one thing clear — she wants the world to know she’s still cheering on her cousin from afar.
