Charlie Kirk Murder Suspect’s Courtroom Comments Leave Observers Stunned

Charlie Kirk’s accused killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, appeared calm and even lighthearted during his first in-person court appearance this week — but a chilling off-mic exchange with his attorney revealed a far darker mindset, according to a lip-reading analysis.

Robinson appeared in court Thursday in Provo, Utah, more than three months after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. While waiting for the hearing to begin, Robinson was seen quietly talking with his attorney and even sharing a brief laugh.

But according to an analysis by Lip Reader Limited, Robinson appeared to tell his lawyer that he thinks about the shooting constantly.

“I think about the shooting daily,” he appeared to say. “Every morning… all the time.”

The exchange became even more unsettling when Robinson appeared to reference Kirk’s wife, Erika, who was left widowed with the couple’s two young children.

“So, he had a wife…,” Robinson appeared to say at one point, according to the analysis.

During another part of the off-mic conversation, Robinson seemed to speak about his own mental state while in custody, saying he had been “smoking a lot,” struggling to sleep, and feeling overwhelmed.

“It’s driving me mental,” he appeared to say. “Unfortunately, it’s doing my head in. I’m not good for anything.”

Despite the heavy subject matter, Robinson appeared largely unfazed once the hearing began. He stood before the judge wearing a blue button-down shirt and an argyle tie, showing little visible emotion.

Robinson is accused of fatally shooting 31-year-old Charlie Kirk on Sept. 10 during a packed speaking event at Utah Valley University. The killing shocked supporters nationwide and left the campus community reeling.

During Thursday’s hearing, Judge Tony Graf considered whether media would be allowed in the courtroom, a move Robinson’s defense opposed. The judge also reviewed whether to release portions of a transcript from a previous phone hearing related to Robinson’s courtroom attire.

After closing the courtroom for more than two hours to hear private arguments, Judge Graf postponed a decision on both issues. A follow-up hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 29.

Robinson is facing multiple serious charges, including aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, obstruction of justice, two counts of witness tampering, and committing a violent offense in the presence of a child.
