New Children’s Book Sparks Outrage for Calling Abortion a ‘Superpower’

A new children’s book presenting abortion as a “superpower” is stirring controversy, with critics warning it sends a concerning message to young readers.

Titled Abortion is Everything, the book is set for release in January 2026 and comes from activist group Shout Your Abortion. Aimed at children ages 5 to 8, the brightly illustrated book frames abortion in a positive light, describing it as a “uniquely human superpower” that allows people to “make choices that lead us toward the life we envision.”

The book encourages parents, caregivers, and teachers to use it as a tool to introduce the topic to young children.

But critics say the messaging is deeply troubling. Sarah Gabel Seifert, CEO of pro-life diaper company EveryLife and mother of two, told Fox News Digital that the book goes beyond simply normalizing abortion. “It frames it as a virtue,” she said. “Abortion is not ‘everything.’ Abortion ends everything. It ends a life. Our children deserve a better narrative—one that teaches the beauty, dignity, and value of every human life from the moment of conception.”

Gabel Seifert warned that the book reflects a broader effort to shape children’s views on abortion from an early age. “The message being planted is that children are an inconvenience or a burden, that pregnancy gets in the way of your goals, and that the unborn aren’t really human—just a ‘clump of cells,’” she said. “When that becomes a child’s foundation, it’s no surprise that if they later face an unplanned pregnancy, they may see abortion as the obvious solution.”

The pro-life organization Live Action also pointed to author Amelia Bonow’s history of promoting abortion to children, including her 2019 appearance in a “Kids Meet” video series where she discussed her own abortion experience.

Seifert urged parents to start age-appropriate conversations with their kids about difficult topics before children encounter messages like the ones in the book. “We need to teach young people to think critically about their choices and understand that abortion isn’t a quick fix—it’s a life-altering decision with long-term consequences,” she said.

She emphasized that children should be taught to value life and parenthood. “Children are a gift, not a problem. Parenthood is a blessing worth honoring and protecting,” Seifert said. “Our job is to equip kids to think clearly and responsibly about decisions that affect their lives and the lives of others.”

The book’s release is sure to intensify the ongoing debate over how—and if—sensitive topics like abortion should be discussed with young children.

  1. This is despicable and outrageous as well as blasphemous toward God and needs to be stopped and destroyed at least prohibitive to all children unless an adult ! You should be ashamed to even give it creditably! This is next to child abuse! A crime against humanity!!!!!
