Pence Issues Chilling Warning: “Trump Should Be Worried”

Former Vice President Mike Pence is sounding the alarm about Donald Trump’s future, predicting the 79-year-old president could be impeached yet again if Democrats sweep the 2026 midterms.

In a tense appearance on CNN’s The Source with Kaitlan Collins, Pence didn’t hesitate when asked whether he agreed with Trump’s claim that Democrats would “find a reason” to remove him from office.

“It’s very likely,” Pence said. “They impeached the president over a phone call. In today’s atmosphere, nothing would surprise me.”

The remark instantly reignited interest in the ruptured relationship between the former running mates, a feud that has haunted Republican politics for years.

Pence and Trump began drifting apart long before January 6, but the fallout from the Capitol attack cemented the break.

In late 2020, Trump falsely insisted Pence could overturn the election during the certification process. Pence refused, saying his role was merely ceremonial. Trump turned on him almost immediately.

“He blamed me for doing my duty,” Pence has said in past interviews. “It put a target on my back.”

During the riot, Trump supporters stormed the Capitol chanting “Hang Mike Pence!” as Secret Service whisked him to safety. Pence later described the day as one of the darkest of his life.

Trump never fully condemned the threats. Instead, he told reporters weeks later, “People were angry.”

Pence reminded viewers that Trump already holds a unique place in history: the only president impeached twice.

The first case came in 2019, tied to a pressure campaign on Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky. The allegation: Trump demanded political dirt on Hunter Biden in exchange for critical military aid.

“The facts were clear,” one former House investigator told us. “It was a straight-up shakedown.”

The second impeachment—over Trump’s role in January 6—arrived just days before he left office. Trump was acquitted by the Senate both times.

But the political climate in 2026 is very different.

Democrats are widely expected to make major gains in November. The economy is shaky. Voters appear restless. History shows the president’s party almost always suffers in midterm elections.

A senior Democratic strategist told us bluntly: “If we retake the House, oversight is back on the table. Everything.”

Trump himself seems rattled. During a private meeting with House Republicans this week, he reportedly told members:

“You gotta win the midterms. If we lose, they’ll impeach me. They’ll come up with something.”

Multiple lawmakers in the room confirmed the quote.

Pence went a step further and raised a specific vulnerability: Trump’s controversial military strike on Venezuela and the shocking capture of former leader Nicolás Maduro.

The attack happened without congressional approval, triggering bipartisan outrage.

“That decision is going to follow him,” Pence warned on CNN. “There are questions about authority. There are questions about motive.”

A former Pentagon official put it more sharply: “It was unprecedented. The legal justification was thin. The political fallout isn’t over.”

Pence also used his CNN appearance to pitch himself as the keeper of Reagan-era conservatism.

“Americans want a return to timeless principles,” Pence said. “The principles Ronald Reagan won 49 states with. Those are the same values President Trump and I governed on.”

He added he plans to remain a “consistent advocate” for what he calls the “broad, mainstream conservative agenda.”

But behind the polished talking points, Pence’s warning carried a blunt message: Trump’s political survival is no longer guaranteed.

A White House spokesperson did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
