Gospel Legend Ron Kenoly Dies at 81

Gospel legend Ron Kenoly has died at 81, leaving behind a decades-long legacy of worship music that shaped churches around the world.

The beloved singer and worship leader passed away Tuesday morning, according to fellow musician Bruno Miranda, who shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram. A cause of death has not been released.

Born and raised in Kansas, Kenoly often spoke about growing up without a father and finding purpose through music. After a brief stint in the Air Force, he headed to Los Angeles in the 1970s and recorded with an R&B group before walking away from the industry altogether.

That’s when his life changed direction. Kenoly enrolled in Bible college, shifted into worship ministry, and began creating the joyful, energetic praise music that would make him a household name in churches. His debut worship album, “Jesus Is Alive,” arrived in 1991 and kicked off a long list of influential releases.

Kenoly later founded Ron Kenoly Ministries in Orlando, where he continued teaching, recording, and inspiring worship leaders for years.

He was 81.
