FBI Waiting on Lab Results in Guthrie Case After Several Suspects Detained

The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie just took another dramatic turn.

Federal agents and local law enforcement carried out a major overnight operation in Tucson tied to the case of the missing 84-year-old mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie — but as of Saturday morning, no one has been arrested and no one remains in custody.

Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that despite intense activity Friday night, the investigation remains ongoing.

High-level sources tell Fox News Digital that at least three individuals were detained during the operation after a federal search warrant was executed at a home roughly two miles from Guthrie’s residence. A man was photographed in handcuffs in the parking lot of a nearby Culver’s, where he was reportedly processed before being released. No charges have been filed.

Authorities also towed away a Range Rover from the scene.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department later confirmed the search warrant stemmed from a “lead” in the investigation but declined to release additional details, citing the joint effort with the FBI.

“Law enforcement activity is underway… related to the Guthrie case,” the department posted on X. “Because this is a joint investigation, at the request of the FBI — no additional information is currently available.”

Meanwhile, investigators are still awaiting lab results tied to the case.

A source says the FBI is currently waiting on forensic findings from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Nanos recently defended his agency’s decision to use a private forensic lab in Florida — instead of the FBI’s well-known crime lab in Quantico, Virginia — explaining that evidence was sent there early in the investigation and that federal officials agreed it was best to continue using that facility.

Two weeks after Nancy Guthrie vanished, questions continue to mount.

Despite the high-profile search, authorities have not named any suspects or persons of interest. Officials have not disclosed what specific evidence prompted the search warrant or what investigators may have seized during the operation.

For now, the mystery surrounding the beloved grandmother remains unsolved — and the clock keeps ticking.
