Fox News Sparks Firestorm After ‘Mistakenly’ Airing Wrong Footage of Trump (Video)

A major media controversy erupted after Fox News mistakenly aired the wrong footage of President Donald Trump during coverage of a solemn military ceremony honoring fallen American service members.

The broadcast error quickly ignited fierce debate online, with critics accusing the network of trying to shield Trump from controversy after reports circulated that he wore a white cap during the dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base.

The ceremony took place on March 7, when President Trump attended the transfer of six American service members who were killed overseas during attacks linked to escalating tensions with Iran. The event marked the final homecoming for Major Jeffrey O’Brien, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, Captain Cody Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens and Sgt. Declan Coady.

Dignified transfers are among the most solemn duties of a commander in chief. The ceremony is held when the remains of American service members return to U.S. soil. Presidents from both parties have traditionally attended to honor those who gave their lives in service to the nation.

But when Fox & Friends Weekend aired coverage the following morning, viewers noticed something unusual.

Instead of showing footage from the March 7 ceremony, the network aired video from an entirely different dignified transfer from years earlier.

During the segment, correspondent Griff Jenkins described the scene as if it were the most recent event.

“President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance attending a dignified transfer to honor the final homecoming of the six U.S. service members killed overseas,” Jenkins told viewers. “The solemn ritual returns the remains of troops killed in action. It is considered one of the most somber duties of a commander in chief.”

The mistake did not go unnoticed.

Within hours, social media lit up with speculation about why the wrong footage aired. Some critics suggested the network may have been trying to avoid showing the actual moment that reportedly sparked controversy.

At issue was Trump’s decision to wear a white cap during the ceremony — something critics argued was inappropriate for the occasion.

One user wrote online, “They didn’t want to show Trump with the baseball cap on. That’s why they ran old footage.”

Another critic claimed, “It was done on purpose to hide his behavior. That’s not a mistake.”

Political commentator Ron Filipkowski also weighed in, blasting the network’s explanation and claiming the “correct footage” had still not aired after the error was acknowledged.

“You admit the mistake, but you still don’t show the actual video?” Filipkowski posted.

The growing backlash forced Fox News to address the situation publicly.

On March 9, Jenkins issued an on-air apology.

“We inadvertently aired video from an older dignified transfer instead of the ceremony that took place yesterday,” he said. “We deeply regret the error and extend our respect and condolences to the service members’ families. We honor the sacrifice of those six American heroes.”

Even with the apology, critics continued questioning how such a mistake could occur during a major national news broadcast.

Media observers pointed out that archival footage typically goes through multiple editorial checks before it is aired.

“You don’t accidentally pull random B-roll from the archives and broadcast it nationally,” one critic wrote online. “That footage has to be reviewed, edited and approved first.”

Others argued that the controversy itself distracted from the real focus — honoring the fallen troops and their families.

As of this writing, the White House has not issued a statement about the broadcast mix-up or the criticism surrounding Trump’s attire during the ceremony.

The dignified transfer at Dover marked a tragic moment for the country, as the remains of the six service members were returned home following the deadly overseas attacks tied to rising hostilities with Iran.

For many Americans, the ceremony was meant to be a quiet moment of national mourning.

Instead, a media blunder turned it into yet another political flashpoint in an already divided country.

  1. it was actually the right footage, showing more as he is than as the trump they wanted to portray.  dr. schlatter

  2. One more case of a whole lot of nothing. I believe that if Trump said that apple sauce would improve one’s health no one on the left would buy any more apple sauce. Trump regularly wears either one of his red MAGA caps or the white USA cap. You lefties are so eat up with TDS you can no longer use your head for something other than a hat rack.
