Olympic Legend Facing Backlash After Handing Trump a Medal (Video)

Kaillie Humphries just pulled off one of the most headline-grabbing moments of Women’s History Month at the White House: the Olympic bobsled superstar handed President Donald Trump her Order of Ikkos medallion—then got emotional explaining why she felt he earned it.

The Order of Ikkos is usually an athlete’s way of thanking the person who helped get them to the podium. Team USA medalists typically give it to a coach or mentor—someone behind the scenes who made the win possible.

But Humphries said Trump’s policies hit home for her personally, pointing to IVF access and her support for keeping women’s sports limited to biological women.

At the event, Humphries appeared visibly moved as she talked about becoming a mom through IVF and how people told her she wouldn’t return to elite form after giving birth. She framed her journey as proof that motherhood and medals don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

Trump’s reaction was classic Trump—quick, confident, and camera-ready. After Humphries suggested he may be the first president to receive an Order of Ikkos, he replied with a quip along the lines of, “I knew I liked her.”

But the real drama, Humphries says, started after she publicly aligned herself with Trump and MAGA politics in post-Olympics interviews.

She told Fox News Digital she’s been hit with a wave of criticism since speaking out—name-calling, harsh comments, and people making it “very known” they don’t agree with her. Still, she insisted she’s not shocked by it.

In her words: she’s used to living with pressure.

“I’m used to competing with a target on my back,” Humphries said, explaining that being unwelcome isn’t exactly new territory when you’re at the top of your sport. She also emphasized that political opinions make people emotional—and while she wishes the tone was different, she’s learned to live with it.

Humphries’ stance is landing in a moment when sports and politics are basically inseparable, especially around hot-button issues like trans participation, Title IX, and what fairness means in women’s competition.

And Humphries isn’t just any athlete weighing in: she’s one of the most decorated women in bobsled history, with Olympic medals spanning multiple Games—making her political turn even harder for people to ignore.

Her message, at least for now, is simple: she’s not backing down.

If the criticism keeps coming? She says she’ll do what she’s always done—block out the noise, keep moving, and “find your people.”
