Utah Mom Kidnaps Son’s Bully, 11, to Forces Him to Apologize

A Utah mother is facing serious criminal charges after what authorities describe as a disturbing attempt to take matters into her own hands — allegedly tracking down her son’s 11-year-old bully, forcing him into her car, and demanding an apology.

According to prosecutors, 40-year-old Shannon Marie Tufuga of Provo went looking for the boy on September 17, 2025, determined to confront him over claims he had been bullying her child. What happened next, officials say, crossed a dangerous legal line.

Charging documents allege Tufuga drove around the neighborhood until she spotted the boy riding his bike. That’s when things escalated. Authorities claim she pulled her vehicle directly in front of him, blocking his path, and forced the child into her car.

Instead of contacting the boy’s parents or school officials, police say Tufuga took him straight to her home — without his family’s knowledge — where she allegedly demanded he apologize to her son face-to-face.

The boy reportedly complied.

But the situation didn’t end there.

Prosecutors say Tufuga then allegedly threatened the child, warning that her husband could beat him up and telling him he was “lucky” she didn’t run over his bike. After the confrontation, she drove the boy back home.

Now, months later, the fallout is coming into focus — and it’s serious.

Tufuga has been charged with child kidnapping and aggravated child abuse, both major offenses that could carry significant penalties if she is convicted.

Meanwhile, authorities say the 11-year-old victim has suffered lasting emotional trauma. According to court documents, the child now experiences heightened anxiety and has had to change his daily routines following the incident.

It remains unclear whether Tufuga has secured legal representation.

The case is already sparking debate online — with some questioning how far a parent can go to protect their child, and others warning that vigilantism, especially involving children, can spiral into something far more dangerous.

  1. She definitely crossed the line on so many levels but I think the parents saying that he suffered that extent of trauma – I’m sceptical. Usually kids taht are bullies are tougher than that. i could see him crying about it and being upset for a few days but I don’t think that the child now experiences “heightened anxiety and has had to change his daily routines following the incident”. That is him not wanting to do his chores and having parents that pander him. I call B.S. Kids are way more resilent than that. He’s 11 that’s almost junior high. That’s how a 4 year old would respond not an 11 year old and he’s not 4.
