As the Artemis II crew approached one of the most intense moments of their mission, one astronaut used his final words before going silent to deliver a message that’s now touching people around the world.
Just minutes before losing communication behind the Moon, astronaut Victor Glover turned to faith—and spoke directly to Earth.
Glover, serving as pilot of the mission, thanked Mission Control as the crew prepared to slip out of contact during the planned blackout, a nerve-wracking stretch when the spacecraft moves behind the Moon and all signals are cut off.
But instead of focusing on the danger, he shifted the moment to something deeper.
He spoke about what he called one of the greatest mysteries—not in space, but here on Earth: love.
Quoting from the Bible, Glover referenced Matthew 22:37-40, reminding listeners of the command to love God fully and to love others as ourselves.
Then came the line that instantly went viral.
“We love you, from the Moon.”
Mission Control confirmed the message was received, and Glover signed off with a calm but powerful promise: “We will see you on the other side.”
Moments later, the crew disappeared behind the Moon—and into total silence.
The communication blackout lasted about 40 minutes, a standard but still tense part of lunar missions. During that time, the astronauts were completely cut off from Earth, hidden behind the far side of the Moon.
Then, just as expected, contact was restored as the Orion spacecraft reemerged—marking the successful completion of the flyby and the start of their journey home.
The Artemis II crew—Victor Glover, Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch, and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen—made history during the mission, becoming the first humans in more than 50 years to travel around the Moon and see its far side with their own eyes.
At one point, Glover described space as “a whole bunch of nothing,” while calling Earth “this oasis”—a reminder of how rare and beautiful our planet truly is.
Ahead of the mission, he had even encouraged people on Earth to use the blackout as a moment to come together—to pray, hope, and send positive thoughts while the crew was out of contact.
For Glover, faith has always played a major role in his journey. A devoted Christian, he has spoken openly about how it guides his life and career. During a previous mission aboard the International Space Station, he even brought a Bible and read scripture while orbiting Earth.
Now, millions are reflecting on the message he shared in one of the most isolated places imaginable.
