Groom Accused of Shocking Crime Hours Before He was Set to Say ‘I Do’

A Nebraska groom allegedly sexually assaulted a young woman who was helping prepare for his wedding just one day before he was supposed to walk down the aisle, authorities say.

Tyler Weber, 33, is facing first-degree sexual assault and first-degree false imprisonment charges after investigators said DNA evidence linked him to the disturbing encounter.

The alleged victim, a 19-year-old married woman, told authorities she was part of a small group — including her husband — that gathered at Weber’s home in May to finish preparations for the wedding the following day.

According to a report from WOWT, the woman claimed Weber began behaving inappropriately while the group was still together, repeatedly grabbing her hand whenever her husband wasn’t looking.

As the night went on and other guests began leaving, the woman allegedly decided she was too intoxicated to safely go home and asked if she could borrow clothes and stay the night.

That’s when she claims the situation took a terrifying turn.

The woman told investigators Weber followed her upstairs as she went to change, grabbed her wrist and pinned her against the stairs before forcing her onto a couch.

She alleged Weber then performed sexual acts on her despite her repeatedly telling him “No.”

In one particularly bizarre detail, the woman claimed Weber repeatedly stopped during the alleged assault and acknowledged that he should not be doing what he was doing because he was supposed to get married the next day.

At one point, she allegedly tried to text her husband that “bad things were happening.”

The woman said she eventually fell asleep on the couch and woke roughly two hours later to another explosive scene — Weber’s bride-to-be had come downstairs and allegedly found the woman in her fiancé’s arms.

According to the accuser, Weber’s fiancée became furious and began yelling at her.

The woman said she tried to leave, but Weber repeatedly grabbed her arm and begged her never to tell anyone what had allegedly happened.

Once home, she told her husband about the encounter and later told her father, who reportedly urged her to seek medical attention.

A sexual assault examination was performed, and investigators later obtained Weber’s DNA through a warrant in June.

Authorities said an initial swab from the woman contained two separate DNA profiles and could not exclude Weber.

Investigators then ordered more extensive DNA testing, which the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office said produced a definitive match to Weber.

The woman also alleged Weber bit her thigh during the encounter. Authorities said medical staff documented a dime-sized bruise in that area during her examination.

Weber initially denied the allegations.

Investigators also recorded Weber’s arms and torso and found no visible marks, something he reportedly pointed to while arguing the alleged assault had not occurred.

But prosecutors moved forward with the case following the DNA findings.

Weber was being held at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center on a $215,000 bond and was scheduled to return to court on Aug. 15.
