DHS Condemns Rosie O’Donnell After ‘Disgusting’ Claim

Rosie O’Donnell is facing a blistering response from the Department of Homeland Security after the comedian made explosive allegations about what she claims is happening inside ICE detention facilities.

O’Donnell sparked the controversy during a recent TikTok rant in which she compared immigration detention centers under President Donald Trump to concentration camps and claimed children were being sexually assaulted while in federal custody.

“We’re making concentration camps,” O’Donnell said before alleging that children in ICE detention were being raped and becoming pregnant. She questioned who had access to detained girls and what happened to babies born under those circumstances.

The extraordinary accusations quickly drew a furious response from DHS, which flatly denied O’Donnell’s claims and accused her of spreading dangerous misinformation.

A DHS spokesman called the allegations “disgusting, reckless and categorically FALSE” and argued that inflammatory rhetoric directed at ICE has coincided with dramatic increases in threats and violence against federal immigration officers.

According to DHS figures cited by the department, assaults against ICE officers have risen 1,300%, vehicular attacks have increased 3,300%, and death threats have jumped 8,000%. Those figures were presented by DHS as evidence of the increasingly hostile environment facing immigration agents.

The spokesman also blasted O’Donnell’s comparison of ICE detention centers to World War II internment or concentration camps, calling such comparisons irresponsible.

DHS then turned the attack back on critics of the Trump administration, accusing celebrities of ignoring problems involving migrant children who entered the United States during the Biden administration. The department said ICE under Trump has been working to locate unaccompanied minors who previously crossed the southern border.

The agency’s statement became intensely personal, with the spokesman referring to O’Donnell as a “TDS-suffering lunatic” and criticizing her decision to leave the United States after Trump’s return to the White House.

O’Donnell has been one of Trump’s most outspoken celebrity critics for years and has repeatedly condemned his immigration policies.

DHS also pushed back directly against allegations that immigrants are being kept in dangerous or degrading conditions.

The department said detainees receive three meals each day along with drinking water, clothing, bedding, showers, soap and other toiletries. DHS said detainees are also able to use phones to speak with relatives and attorneys and that meals are reviewed by certified dietitians.

The agency further said detainees receive medical, dental and mental health treatment, along with access to appointments and around-the-clock emergency care.

DHS specifically disputed O’Donnell’s claims involving pregnant detainees.

According to the department, pregnant women represented just 0.15% of people in ICE custody as of June 30.

DHS said pregnant detainees can receive prenatal care, nutritional assistance, mental health services, pregnancy testing, specialized treatment when necessary, postpartum follow-up and nursing care.

The clash comes as the Trump administration continues an aggressive immigration enforcement campaign and Democrats and immigration advocates continue challenging detention conditions and arrest practices around the country.

DHS defended ICE’s arrest authority, saying agents operate under federal immigration law and use reasonable suspicion during investigations and probable cause when making arrests.

The agency also emphasized its focus on immigrants accused or convicted of crimes, saying nearly 70% of ICE arrests involve people charged with or convicted of crimes in the United States.

O’Donnell has made similar comparisons before.

In July 2025, she referred to ICE as Trump’s “personal Gestapo” while warning Americans that they needed to speak out against what she described as atrocities taking place under his administration.

Her latest comments have once again thrust the longtime Trump-O’Donnell feud into the spotlight — this time over one of the most politically explosive issues facing the country.

DHS ended its response with a warning that people living illegally in the United States could either use the government’s voluntary departure program or face arrest and deportation.
