DoorDash Driver ‘Vanishes’ with Her Car Found Crashed into Tree

A Michigan family is desperately searching for answers after a 43-year-old delivery driver mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind a crashed vehicle containing her purse, cellphone and other personal belongings.

Kimberly Noel McGrath, who worked for DoorDash and Uber Eats, has been missing since last weekend, when her badly damaged car was discovered in the backyard of a home in Huron Township, southwest of Detroit.

But the most troubling detail is what police didn’t find.

There was no sign of McGrath at the crash scene, and investigators have been unable to establish whether she was even behind the wheel when the vehicle struck a tree.

Despite an extensive search involving police dogs, drones and rescue crews checking the nearby Huron River, authorities have not located her.

The mystery began Saturday, October 10, when a homeowner in the 18000 block of Hannan Road contacted police around 5:34 p.m. after discovering a vehicle that had crashed on the property.

According to the Huron Township Department of Public Safety, the car had struck a tree near a driveway, just feet from the Huron River.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle abandoned.

Investigators traced the car to McGrath, a resident of Southgate, Michigan, but she was nowhere to be found.

Her purse, phone and other belongings were reportedly still inside the damaged vehicle, raising concerns that something may have happened to her following the crash.

Police checked McGrath’s residence but were unable to locate her there either.

Family members told investigators they last had contact with her on Friday, October 9, the day before the car was discovered.

They believe the crash may have happened late Friday night or early Saturday morning, although the exact time remains uncertain.

With so little information available, investigators launched a large-scale search of the surrounding area.

The Huron Township Fire Department searched accessible sections of the Huron River, while police and emergency personnel used drones and K-9 units to examine nearby wooded areas and properties.

Michigan State Police and Metroparks Police also assisted.

Despite those efforts, the search has not produced a confirmed sighting or explanation for McGrath’s disappearance.

Huron Township Police Chief Everette Robbins said his department is particularly concerned that she may have been injured in the crash and wandered away seeking help.

“Our number one priority is to locate her and make sure she is safe,” Robbins said.

Authorities have asked residents near Hannan Road to check garages, sheds, outbuildings and other sheltered areas where an injured person might have sought refuge.

Meanwhile, McGrath’s relatives are struggling with the lack of answers.

Her cousin, Monica Doyle, told ClickOnDetroit that the family cannot even confirm whether McGrath was driving the car when it crashed.

“We don’t know for certain anything. We don’t know if she was hurt. We don’t know if she was even driving the car because nobody saw her,” Doyle said.

Another cousin, Kate Petersen, described McGrath as a strong, intelligent woman who could find humor even during difficult times.

Family members say she sometimes preferred keeping to herself but would not ordinarily disappear without contacting loved ones.

“She’ll go radio silent a bit, but she doesn’t go missing,” Doyle explained.

The circumstances are especially concerning because McGrath worked as a delivery driver and frequently traveled throughout the area.

Her relatives hope someone may remember receiving a food delivery from her or seeing her at a gas station, restaurant or convenience store shortly before she vanished.

Those possible sightings could help investigators establish where she was during the hours leading up to the crash.

McGrath’s family has also emphasized that she has a beloved pet cat they do not believe she would willingly abandon.

For her loved ones, leaving behind her phone, purse and pet without explanation is deeply out of character.

Police have not publicly identified a suspect or announced evidence establishing that McGrath was the victim of a crime.

However, investigators are keeping their options open.

When asked whether foul play might be involved, Robbins declined to speculate.

“We’re not ruling anything out,” the police chief said.

The case presents several unanswered questions, including who was operating the vehicle, what caused the crash and what happened to McGrath afterward.

Investigators have also not announced whether they have recovered surveillance footage or other evidence capable of establishing her movements.

As the search continues, McGrath’s relatives are urging anyone who may have seen her on October 9 or 10 to contact authorities.

Police describe her as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a reported weight of around 150 pounds.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts or the abandoned vehicle is asked to contact the Huron Township Police Department at 734-753-4400.

For McGrath’s family, every passing day without news brings additional worry.

A crashed car has been found. Her belongings remain accounted for. Search crews have combed the area around the nearby river.

But the woman who owned the vehicle is still missing.

And until investigators can determine what happened, her loved ones are holding on to hope that someone knows something that could help bring Kimberly home safely.
