Another “Laken Riley” Just Happened

A Venezuelan national in the United States illegally has been charged with assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Denver, Colorado. The case comes as Denver’s leadership faces scrutiny for policies resisting federal immigration enforcement.

Jesus Alberto Pereira Castillo, 20, was arrested following an investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Castillo had been temporarily living in the home of his employer when the alleged assault occurred.

“Castillo forced himself on the 14-year-old daughter of the homeowner,” the sheriff’s office reported. “He left the residence before deputies arrived.”

After weeks of searching, investigators located Castillo in Denver and arrested him without incident. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has since filed a detainer request, seeking custody of Castillo for potential immigration proceedings.

Sanctuary Policies Under Fire

Castillo is believed to have entered the United States illegally via El Paso, Texas, earlier this year. His arrest has renewed debate over sanctuary city policies, which critics argue provide protection to those who break immigration laws.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston has expressed strong opposition to federal deportation efforts. He recently described community resistance as a powerful force against such actions, emphasizing his commitment to protecting migrants.

Johnston’s approach mirrors actions by other city and state leaders who have resisted federal efforts to enforce immigration laws. These policies often limit local law enforcement’s ability to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.

A Broader Concern

The case adds to a growing conversation about how sanctuary policies impact public safety. Advocates for stricter immigration enforcement argue that these policies create risks by limiting the ability to detain and deport individuals with serious criminal charges.

“Policies that prevent cooperation between local and federal authorities undermine public safety,” said an official familiar with the debate.

Denver’s policies, like those of other sanctuary jurisdictions, prevent local law enforcement from honoring federal detainer requests in many situations. ICE officials argue that these requests are vital for ensuring that individuals accused of serious crimes do not return to the community.

Calls for Action

The arrest of Castillo has reignited discussions on how local governments handle immigration enforcement. Advocates for stricter border control are urging policymakers to prioritize safety and cooperation over resistance.

“Every victim deserves justice, and every community deserves protection,” one observer noted.

As the legal process unfolds, the case raises pressing questions about the balance between compassion for migrants and the need for law enforcement to safeguard communities.

  1. Venezuelans are the worst of the illegal aliens. Those who are not outright criminals (beyond entering the U.S. illegally) are widely known as refusing work when offered and constantly demanding more free stuff than they’re already getting from our taxes and the money our government borrows.

After the convicted rapists and murderers are put away, the first busloads of deportations should be Venezuelans!

  2. I always understood that the law, can’t be violated by anyone, unless of course you are a demokrap, than is ok.☠️💀

  3. Another dumb do-gooder who takes a stranger into his house with total disregard, lack of concern and unawareness, for the safety of others – especially minors (his own daughter), in his care!

  4. There should be no question or debate . This guy belongs in prison , be it in America or his native Venezuela . And under no circumstances should he ever be allowed to re-enter the borders or confines of America . He broke the law in entering America illegally then , proceeded to betray his employer and owner of the home giving him shelter by forcing himself , raping the man’s teenage daughter .
I am sure this guy will attempt to re-enter at some point unless locked up for life as will others who are caught and deported. As harsh and cold as it sounds , I fear the only remedy and or deterrent is a shoot to kill order for those attempting to cross illegally . The border wall is a start but even then given time I suspect illegals and those of the cartels will figure a way over , around or under them if they haven’t already done so !
