Trump to Remove Mainstream Media From Press Room?

Donald Trump may upend the traditional White House briefing room dynamic, prioritizing independent voices like Joe Rogan over legacy media outlets, according to Donald Trump Jr. Speaking to Daily Wire host Michael Knowles on Monday, Trump Jr. hinted at a potential reshuffling of the press pool, citing the rise of alternative media and declining public trust in mainstream outlets.

The conversation unfolded during Knowles’ appearance on Trump Jr.’s Rumble show, Triggered, where the host suggested the legacy media’s perceived biases warranted a fresh approach.

“As your father is assembling his team, maybe it’s time to reorder the briefing room chart,” Knowles said. “Take away some people’s seats.”

In response, Trump Jr. dropped a bombshell. “We’re going to break some news here,” he said, revealing that he had recently discussed the idea with his father and tech mogul Elon Musk during a SpaceX launch event. According to Trump Jr., the president-elect is exploring options to give independent journalists greater access to the White House.

“Why not open it up to people like Rogan or other voices with larger audiences and stronger followings?” Trump Jr. said. He accused outlets like The New York Times of acting as “the marketing arm of the Democrat Party,” questioning their continued prominence in the briefing room.

A Changing Media Landscape

The move would reflect the shifting influence of traditional media. Legacy outlets have faced plummeting trust levels, while podcasts and streaming platforms have soared in popularity. Trump Jr. suggested that legacy outlets’ credibility problems should prompt a rethinking of their privileged position in Washington.

Knowles lauded the idea but predicted backlash from Democrats and traditional media advocates. “They’ll say the New York Times and Washington Post influence people, and the whole point of the White House briefing room is to convey the president’s message to the American public,” Knowles said. “But podcasters and streamers are eating their lunch. The game has changed.”

A Call for Accountability

Trump Jr. doubled down on the need for reform. “If the New York Times has lied and the American people aren’t even paying attention to them, is the White House briefing room a charity for failing journalists? Sorry, guys—learn to code,” he quipped, echoing a sentiment shared by many on the Right who feel mainstream outlets have abandoned impartiality.

The discussion reflects a broader culture war over the role of media in shaping public opinion. By hinting at elevating figures like Rogan, the Trump camp may aim to align the White House closer with voices they believe resonate more authentically with the public.

Whether or not this shake-up becomes a reality, one thing is clear: the battle over who gets to ask the questions in the briefing room could define a new era in political communications.
