Iranian General’s Niece Busted by ICE in LA

The niece of slain Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani was arrested by ICE in Los Angeles after officials said she spent years enjoying life in America while openly pushing anti-US propaganda and praising the Iranian regime.

Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, the niece of the late Iranian general, was taken into custody Friday along with her daughter, Sarinasadat Hosseiny, after federal officials revoked their green cards over what they described as troubling ties to the regime in Tehran.

According to the State Department, Afshar didn’t just quietly live in the United States. Officials said she openly celebrated attacks on American troops and military bases, promoted Iranian regime messaging online, denounced the US as the “Great Satan,” and voiced support for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, which the US has designated as a terrorist organization.

In a letter confirming the arrests, the State Department said Afshar used her time in America to spread regime propaganda while benefiting from the very country she publicly attacked.

The case is already drawing outrage because Afshar was allowed to remain in the US for years. She entered the country in 2015 on a tourist visa, was granted asylum in 2019, and then received a green card in 2021 during the Biden administration.

Officials said that after securing legal status, she made at least four trips back to Iran — a detail that is now raising serious questions about how someone claiming asylum was able to repeatedly return to the country she supposedly fled.

Her daughter, Hosseiny, also entered the US in 2015 on a student visa and later became a green card holder in 2023. She too was arrested as part of the enforcement action.

Homeland Security made it clear that permanent residency is not a guarantee.

“It is a privilege to be granted a green card to live in the United States of America,” DHS spokesperson Lauren Bis told The Post. “If we have reason to believe a green card holder poses a threat to the US, the green card will be revoked.”

What has made the case even more explosive is the image officials say Afshar projected while living in Southern California. The State Department pointed to her lavish Los Angeles lifestyle, which was allegedly displayed across a now-deleted Instagram account. Posts reportedly showed luxury living, glamour shots, and high-end scenes that stood in sharp contrast to the anti-American rhetoric officials say she was posting at the same time.

Her husband, whose name was not released, has also been barred from entering the United States, according to officials.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised the move and said the administration is sending a clear message that foreign nationals who support hostile regimes will no longer be allowed to hide behind American immigration protections.

“The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes,” Rubio wrote on X.

The arrests come as the White House continues taking a far more aggressive approach toward Iranian-linked figures and nationals with alleged regime ties. Last month, the State Department also terminated the legal status of Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larjiani, the daughter of former Iranian security chief Ali Larijani.

Qasem Soleimani, the notorious commander of Iran’s Quds Force, was killed in a US drone strike ordered by President Trump in January 2020 near Baghdad International Airport. He had long been accused by US officials of masterminding attacks that killed American service members and destabilized the Middle East.

Now, years after his death, his family name is back in the headlines — this time not on the battlefield, but in Los Angeles, where federal authorities say one of his relatives was allowed to live comfortably in America while cheering for the regime he helped build.
