Shooter Targeted Christian School Children in Disturbing Act of Revenge

In a horrifying attack at Feather River Adventist School in Oroville, California, a 56-year-old man critically wounded two kindergartners before taking his own life. Authorities reveal the shooter’s chilling motive: retaliation against “America’s involvement in genocide and oppression of Palestinians.” The attack has left the community reeling, with law enforcement uncovering the shooter’s disturbing writings and criminal past.

A Calculated Attack

The shooter, whose name is withheld to avoid notoriety, scheduled an appointment under the guise of enrolling his grandson. He met with the school principal on Wednesday, but as children returned to the building from recess, he opened fire. Six-year-old Roman Mendez and five-year-old Elias Wolford were critically injured, suffering internal wounds. Surveillance footage shows the shooter pulling a handgun from his waistband before firing.

Authorities later found documents penned by the gunman, identifying himself as part of a fictitious “International Alliance.” He described the attack as a “countermeasure” for U.S. foreign policy in Palestine and Yemen. “We have found no evidence that this so-called alliance exists,” Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea stated.

Shooter’s Troubled Past

The perpetrator, a homeless man with a history of mental health struggles, had a long rap sheet dating back to the 1990s. His criminal record includes convictions for theft, fraud, and identity theft. In 2002, a search of his home revealed searches for firearms and explosives, raising suspicions of a larger planned attack. Despite recent arrests, including a U-Haul theft in South San Francisco, he was released from custody just days before the shooting.

District Attorney Mike Ramsey confirmed that the shooter had once attended a nearby Adventist school as a child. While there is no clear indication of a personal vendetta against the Christian school, Ramsey noted, “This was a hate-fueled act under the guise of political grievance.”

Community Devastation

The small Christian school, part of the Seventh-day Adventist system, is grappling with the trauma. Parents, educators, and students are left in shock, struggling to understand how such an act of violence could occur. Local leaders called for unity and healing. “This tragedy has shaken our town to its core,” Oroville Mayor Dave Pittman said.

Rising Concerns About Violence and Political Extremism

This incident highlights the dangerous intersection of political extremism, mental health issues, and access to firearms. Sheriff Honea said, “The writings we uncovered show a deeply disturbed individual motivated by a warped sense of justice.” Investigators continue to examine how the shooter obtained the weapon used in the attack.

As the two young victims fight for their lives in critical condition, the Oroville community is left to grapple with the tragic consequences of ideological extremism and unchecked violence. This senseless attack serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by schools nationwide.
