Christian School Shooter Revealed

The first photos have surfaced of the 15-year-old girl who opened fire at a Wisconsin Christian school on Monday, killing a teacher and a fellow student before turning the gun on herself. The images raise chilling questions about her possible motivations, with one photo showing her wearing a t-shirt from a band linked to the 1999 Columbine massacre.

Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow, a student at the K-12 Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, was seen in an undated Facebook photo at a shooting range, wearing a shirt from the German industrial band KMFDM. The same band was favored by Columbine shooter Eric Harris, who wore their merchandise in photos leading up to his attack.

KMFDM’s name loosely translates to “no pity for the majority,” a phrase that has fueled speculation about Rupnow’s mindset. Investigators are now examining whether the Columbine massacre served as inspiration for her rampage.

The Shooting
Authorities say Rupnow brought a handgun to campus Monday morning and opened fire inside a classroom during study hall, which was filled with students from multiple grades. The attack began around 11 a.m., leaving a teacher and one student dead.

Police Chief Shon Barnes questioned how the teenager obtained the firearm. “We’re investigating every aspect of this tragedy, including how a 15-year-old was able to access a weapon,” Barnes said at a press briefing Tuesday.

After the shooting, Rupnow died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Search of Shooter’s Home
SWAT teams raided the Rupnow family home late Monday night, located just eight miles from the school. Officials said Rupnow’s father cooperated fully, allowing officers to search the property. Authorities have not disclosed what was recovered during the search but confirmed they are reviewing her background and digital footprint for clues.

“This was a planned attack,” said a law enforcement source close to the investigation. “We are working to understand her motive and whether she communicated her intentions to anyone beforehand.”

Possible Columbine Connection
The unsettling image of Rupnow wearing the KMFDM t-shirt has drawn comparisons to Columbine shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, who killed 13 people in their infamous 1999 attack. Harris was known to favor the same band, leading many to question whether Rupnow had an obsession with the tragedy.

“It’s hard not to see the parallels,” said one school safety expert. “The symbolism, the planning, the choice of music—it raises red flags about copycat behavior.”

While police have not confirmed a direct connection, the similarities have reignited concerns about the influence of past school shootings on troubled young people.

A Community in Shock
Parents rushed to the scene on Monday as news of the shooting spread. Images captured students being escorted away by police, their faces pale with shock. For many in the tight-knit Madison community, the horror felt unimaginable.

“We’re grieving for the lives lost and the families shattered by this senseless violence,” said Abundant Life’s pastor during a prayer vigil Monday night. “Our faith will guide us, but we need answers.”

Other photos on Rupnow’s father’s Facebook page show a seemingly normal teenager—smiling as she played with dogs and enjoying time outdoors. The contrast with Monday’s events has left the community searching for answers.

As investigators continue to piece together what led Rupnow to carry out this attack, questions linger about warning signs that may have been missed and how to prevent tragedies like this in the future.

For now, Madison mourns—and waits for answers.
