Alan Dershowitz Sues JFK’s Grandson Over ‘Wife Killer’ Claim

Harvard law professor and renowned civil rights attorney Alan Dershowitz has announced his intent to sue Jack Schlossberg, grandson of John F. Kennedy, over inflammatory and false allegations made on social media.

Schlossberg, 32, recently took to Instagram in a bizarre video rant, making outrageous claims about the 86-year-old attorney. Among them was an assertion that Dershowitz had “killed his wife”—a claim entirely unsubstantiated and quickly denounced by the lawyer, who has been married to Carolyn Cohen since 1986.

“I hope he will preserve all of his documents because I am about to commence a legal action against him,” Dershowitz told reporters on Wednesday. “My lawyers have advised me that I have a viable defamation action.”

Wild Accusations and Social Media Meltdowns

In the now-deleted video, Schlossberg, disheveled and agitated, mocked Dershowitz, stating, “Everyone knows I killed my wife, I’ve got a thousand sexual assault cases against me, I look like a human penis. I’m completely irrelevant and I’ve never had consensual sex … Oh wait, s–t, that’s you.”

The video, laden with crude language and erratic behavior, appears to be a response to Schlossberg’s belief that Dershowitz had insulted his family. The specifics of that perceived insult remain unclear.

Schlossberg, the son of former U.S. ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy, has developed a reputation for eccentric online behavior. He briefly deleted his social media accounts on February 6 but returned days later with new attacks against Dershowitz and others, including broadcaster Megyn Kelly.

Dershowitz Fires Back

Dershowitz, a longtime fixture in high-profile legal cases, including his controversial work defending O.J. Simpson and Jeffrey Epstein, expressed disappointment in Schlossberg, pointing out his past ties to the Kennedy family.

“I was a lawyer for Ted Kennedy,” Dershowitz said. “I was a professor to Joseph Kennedy III at Harvard. I have a long history with that family. But Jack Schlossberg has done more harm to the Kennedy name than all the rest of the Kennedys combined.”

Legal experts suggest Dershowitz may have a strong defamation case, given Schlossberg’s direct accusation of criminal activity. Defamation lawsuits hinge on proving false statements were made with malicious intent or reckless disregard for the truth, a standard that could be met in this instance.

Schlossberg’s Online Antics Continue

Despite his earlier promise to delete his accounts “forever,” Schlossberg returned to social media Tuesday, railing against the temporary closure of the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum in Boston. In an incoherent post, he claimed that “Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency” had fired staff from the institution. The library, however, reopened the next day without issue.

With Dershowitz moving forward with legal action, the unfolding drama could land Schlossberg in serious legal trouble. As the Kennedy heir continues to court controversy, the stakes have never been higher for his public image.
