Mom Murders Children with Meat Cleaver to Get Back at Husband

A shocking case out of Arizona just reached a verdict—Yui Inoue, 44, has been convicted of murdering her two young children in a brutal attack back in 2021.

On Monday, a jury found Inoue guilty of first-degree murder, child abuse, and disorderly conduct in the deaths of her 9-year-old daughter, Mia, and 7-year-old son, Kai, according to AZ Family, The Arizona Republic, and Fox 10 Phoenix.

Prosecutors say this heartbreaking crime was fueled by revenge. Inoue had been fighting with her husband over money during their divorce, and after a heated argument on May 15, 2021, he left their home and called the police. Officers showed up, checked on the apartment, and found nothing alarming—the kids were asleep, and everything seemed fine.

But just hours later, things took a horrifying turn.

That same day, Inoue drove to a police station and told an officer that she had heard voices telling her to kill her children. When authorities rushed back to the home, they found an unimaginable scene—Mia and Kai were dead, their small bodies covered with a blanket and boxes.

According to police, Inoue later said she had gone to bed and woke up covered in blood. Officers found the children with multiple deep cuts and amputations, injuries described as “consistent with a violent attack and defensive wounds.”

As if that wasn’t disturbing enough, Inoue had the meat cleaver with her when she walked into the police station.

During the trial, prosecutors painted a terrifying picture:

“Mia and Kai were sleeping soundly in their beds when their own mother walked in holding a knife,” they said, per AZ Family. “A meat cleaver, designed to cut the bones of animals. And she attacked them with it.”

They argued that Inoue carefully planned the murders, while her defense team claimed she wasn’t strong enough to commit the crime and that there were no eyewitnesses to prove what really happened.

Turns out, Arizona’s Department of Child Services (DCS) had already been investigating Inoue for neglect before the murders. While they didn’t find enough evidence to remove the children from her care, the case was still open when the tragedy happened.

Inoue waived her right to be in court when the guilty verdict was read, so she wasn’t there to hear it. Now, she’s facing life in prison for the brutal crime.
