Biden Admin’s Deep Role in Ukraine War Uncovered—U.S. “Part of the Kill Chain”

Despite repeated claims of restraint, the Biden administration was far more entangled in the Ukraine-Russia conflict than the White House ever let on, according to a bombshell investigation by The New York Times.

The report paints a stunning picture of behind-the-scenes U.S. involvement that included direct battlefield coordination, intelligence sharing that shaped deadly artillery strikes, and American advisers working just miles from the front lines.

In the words of one European intelligence official, U.S. personnel had effectively become “part of the kill chain”—military slang for those directly responsible for identifying, tracking, and destroying enemy targets.

More Than Just Support—This Was Active Engagement

According to the investigation, Ukrainian forces wounded or killed over 700,000 Russian soldiers, many thanks to American-supplied weapons and targeting data.

But the U.S. didn’t just provide equipment. They provided strategy. American and Ukrainian military leaders met as early as spring 2022 at the U.S. European Command headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany. There, they plotted tactics and intelligence transfer methods—carefully crafted to keep American fingerprints off the battlefield.

Rather than label Russian positions as “targets,” American officials described them as “points of interest”—a deliberate linguistic loophole to dodge accusations of direct involvement.

“If you ever get asked, ‘Did you pass a target to the Ukrainians?’ you can truthfully say no,” an unnamed U.S. official told the Times. “Because we didn’t call it that.”

High-Tech Weapons with American Leashes

Even the powerful HIMARS rocket systems, provided by the U.S., came with strings attached. European Command retained control over the key cards needed to activate the missile systems. No card, no launch.

“They gave Ukraine the gun but kept the trigger,” said a retired Army colonel familiar with the program.

The same systems were responsible for hundreds of Russian casualties every week, making them some of the deadliest tools on the battlefield.

Advisers on the Ground, and a Quiet Surge

American military advisers—known in official documents as “subject matter experts”—were deployed close to combat zones. Once Ukraine’s leadership changed, the U.S. quietly tripled the number of advisers and reverted to calling them what they truly were: advisers.

While the Biden administration portrayed the U.S. role as distant support, these revelations suggest something much closer to active partnership—if not participation.

“We’d Go to War”

Officials were careful not to cross certain lines, especially when it came to targeting Russian leaders inside Russian borders.

“Imagine if Russia helped kill our chairman of the Joint Chiefs,” a senior U.S. official told The New York Times. “We’d go to war.”

The quote underlines just how far the administration tried to walk a tightrope—arming Ukraine, guiding its military efforts, but always pulling back just enough to avoid a wider war.

Growing Friction Between Allies

Despite the depth of coordination, tensions frequently flared between Washington and Kyiv. Ukrainian commanders often accused the Americans of being overly controlling, while U.S. officials questioned why Ukrainian troops sometimes ignored key advice.

No Comment from Biden’s Pentagon

Both the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and U.S. European Command declined to answer questions from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

But with these revelations now public, questions are mounting in Washington. How much did President Biden know? Did the American people ever get the truth?

Former President Donald Trump weighed in earlier this year, saying he was “very angry” and “pissed off” at how the Biden administration has handled Russia.

As more details surface, one thing is becoming clear: the war in Ukraine wasn’t just Ukraine’s fight. It was, in many ways, our fight—waged quietly by a government that swore it wasn’t.
