Meghan Markle’s royal façade is crumbling — again.
Fresh allegations have surfaced painting the Duchess of Sussex as anything but graceful behind palace gates, with insiders revealing that her outbursts toward royal staff were so harsh, Queen Elizabeth herself had to step in.
According to royal historian Hugo Vickers, Markle’s treatment of employees at Frogmore Cottage, the Windsor estate where she and Prince Harry lived from 2019 until early 2020, crossed a line. And not just once.
“She was very rude to an under-gardener,” Vickers told reporters. “The head gardener got wind of it and went straight to the Queen.”
The late monarch, known for her unwavering support of staff and old-school values of dignity and respect, didn’t hesitate to confront her granddaughter-in-law.
“Her Majesty couldn’t stand rudeness. She reprimanded Meghan for her behavior,” Vickers said. “It was one of those moments when the Queen showed she still ruled the household.”
While Americans were fed a story of Meghan being silenced and victimized during her now-infamous Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021, royal staff tell a very different tale — one filled with shouting matches, icy stares, and a culture of fear.
Multiple former aides say working with the Duchess was a nightmare.
“She yelled at people constantly — in person, over the phone. There were tears,” said one former royal staffer who requested anonymity out of fear of retaliation. “You’d think we were dealing with a dictator, not a duchess.”
In one shocking incident, Meghan allegedly berated a florist for nearly 30 minutes over a minor social media oversight — they’d failed to credit her involvement in a flower arrangement.
“She wasn’t just upset,” said the source. “She was screaming. It was humiliating.”
And it wasn’t just tempers flaring. The complaints were formalized. In 2018, Jason Knauf, the Sussexes’ then-communications secretary, filed a report alleging Meghan’s bullying led to the departure of two personal assistants and left a third in emotional turmoil.
The claims prompted Buckingham Palace to launch a quiet internal investigation — the results of which were never released to the public. Critics say the Palace was protecting the institution. Others believe the silence only confirms the seriousness of the accusations.
One media insider who worked closely with Meghan on a digital project said she would “flip” her attitude depending on who she thought was useful.
“She’s not playing 4D chess. It’s more like mean-girl checkers,” the insider claimed. “Once she doesn’t need you, she’ll throw you to the wolves. She’ll bad-mouth you to others, isolate you — it’s calculated.”
Despite the mounting testimonies, Meghan’s team continues to push back hard. In a 2021 statement, her spokesperson called the allegations a “smear campaign,” painting Meghan as a victim.
“The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character,” the statement read. “She remains committed to compassion and supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma.”
But critics aren’t buying the spin — especially as more staff continue to speak out.
“She always talked about kindness,” one former employee noted. “But she only practiced it when the cameras were rolling.”
Even as Meghan tries to reinvent herself in Hollywood with brand deals, podcasts, and Netflix specials, the shadow of her royal past looms large — and the American public, particularly those wary of celebrity elites playing victim, are beginning to take notice.
As one former palace aide put it: “She wasn’t bullied. She was the bully.”
And this time, even the Queen wasn’t having it.
