Report: Biden Officials Knew of COVID Shot Heart Risks—But Hid It for Months

Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who chairs the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, dropped the 55-page interim report after a months-long probe into how U.S. health agencies handled early data linking the mRNA vaccines to myocarditis, a potentially serious inflammation of the heart muscle.

“This was a betrayal of public trust,” Johnson told reporters. “The administration had evidence that the vaccines posed a cardiac risk, especially to young Americans, but chose to downplay, delay, and deflect.”

Mayday Warnings Ignored

According to the report, by May 2021, internal emails between CDC and FDA officials show they were aware of a growing number of myocarditis cases, particularly in males under 30 who had received Pfizer or Moderna shots. Health officials even drafted a nationwide Health Alert Network (HAN) warning that would’ve gone out to doctors, hospitals, and public health offices.

But that alert was never sent.

“Instead, they quietly posted ‘clinical considerations’ on a webpage,” Johnson’s report claims. “No press conference, no public advisory, no urgent warning. Just buried fine print.”

Foreign Alerts, Domestic Silence

The cover-up, Johnson says, began even earlier. In February 2021—just months after the mass vaccine rollout—Israel’s Ministry of Health alerted the CDC to a sharp spike in myocarditis cases among young vaccine recipients.

By April, U.S. military data echoed similar concerns. Still, no public announcement was made.

“Behind closed doors, they were scrambling,” the report says. “But to the public, they kept repeating that the vaccines were ‘safe and effective.’”

Vaccine Watchdog Red Flags

The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS)—a federal database co-managed by the CDC and FDA—had also begun flashing warnings. In late May 2021, government scientists reportedly asked in internal notes, “Is VAERS signaling for myopericarditis now?” The answer: “For the age groups 16–17 and 18–24 years, yes.”

Yet the FDA didn’t update the vaccine labels to acknowledge a potential myocarditis risk until late June 2021—months after first knowing.

The Numbers Paint a Grim Picture

As of April 2025, VAERS has recorded 38,607 deaths and more than 1.6 million adverse events globally linked to COVID-19 vaccinations. For context, the flu vaccine has only logged 2,663 deaths across 35 years.

Even more disturbing: Johnson’s report notes that 25% of those COVID vaccine-related deaths occurred within 48 hours of injection.

“No other pharmaceutical product in history has shown this level of reported harm,” Johnson said. “And no administration has gone to such lengths to suppress that reality.”

Pfizer, Moderna Were In the Loop

The report also confirms that Moderna and Pfizer executives were in direct contact with CDC officials during this time. Emails reviewed by the subcommittee show company reps discussing side effects and risk management while the public remained in the dark.

Demand for Transparency

“This isn’t just about vaccines,” Johnson said. “This is about government accountability. The data belongs to the American people—not to bureaucrats with an agenda.”

He’s now calling for full disclosure of every withheld document and has pledged to release all records as they become available.

“The cover-up ends now,” Johnson declared. “We owe Americans the truth—especially the families who trusted their government and paid the price.”

The Biden administration has not issued a direct response to the report. The Department of Health and Human Services did not return a request for comment.
