Bill Maher Drops Bombshell: ‘I Was Never a Democrat’

Bill Maher just shattered a myth that’s dogged him for years: He was never really a Democrat.

In a fiery exchange on his “Club Random” podcast, Maher corrected actor Esai Morales after being accused of abandoning the Democratic Party. The real shock? Maher says he never belonged in the first place.

“I never was a Democrat to begin with,” Maher told Morales bluntly. “I always caucused with the Democrats and I generally vote for them, but that doesn’t make me one of them.”

Maher, known for his sharp tongue and political jabs, wasn’t pulling punches. He said he’s voted for Democrats simply because “they just always are less scary and insane than the Republicans,” but admitted, “we’re approaching a time when both parties are equally nuts.”

Maher added, “I never said I left the party — I wasn’t there to begin with. You’re conflating me with the folks who say ‘I didn’t leave the party, the party left me.’ I know my own views better than anyone.”

This wasn’t just an argument about party labels. Maher and Morales zeroed in on a trend they say is destroying the country: so-called “woke supremacists.”

Morales, who stars in the latest “Mission: Impossible” film, praised Maher for coining the phrase.

“Woke supremacists pretend to be tolerant, but they’re the most intolerant people out there. They want to cancel anyone who disagrees with them at the drop of a hat,” Morales said. “It’s become someone’s full-time job.”

Maher agreed, warning the left’s obsession with cancel culture and radical identity politics is turning average Americans off in droves.

In recent months, Maher’s criticisms of the Democratic Party have gone nuclear. Just days ago, he sided with Senator John Fetterman, D-Pa., arguing that defending radical anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles is a political gift to Donald Trump.

“When Americans see campaign ads with rioters waving the Mexican flag and chaos in the streets, it’s going to be good for Trump,” Maher predicted. “Democrats are making themselves irrelevant by refusing to ditch unpopular woke issues.”

Maher also ripped into “The View” and its hosts, especially Whoopi Goldberg, who recently claimed life for Black Americans is comparable to women’s suffering under the Iranian regime.

Maher scoffed, calling out the “delusional, self-pitying rhetoric” coming from the left’s loudest voices. “Democrats need to do something about ‘The View,’” he said, “or they’ll keep losing Americans with common sense.”

Morales insisted he’s “always identified with the Democratic Party” but warned that true liberals are being drowned out by radicals.

“My definition of liberal is someone who wants to change the status quo for the better,” Morales said, “but these days, it’s hard to recognize my own side.”

With the Democratic Party lurching further left and chasing what Maher calls “woke supremacy,” even longtime allies are getting nervous. For Maher and Morales, the message is clear: Unless Democrats rein in the radicals, the American middle class — and the next election — could swing even harder toward Trump.
