In a stunning blow to the far-left flank of the Democratic Party, over 120 House Democrats teamed up with Republicans Tuesday to crush a long-shot impeachment attempt against President Donald Trump—sending a clear message that political theater won’t derail America’s wartime leadership.
The effort, led by far-left Rep. Al Green of Texas, was swiftly buried in a bipartisan 344–79 vote to table the resolution before it even reached debate. That procedural move blocked what critics called an unserious and reckless bid to punish the president for authorizing precision military strikes against Iranian nuclear targets.
Trump Survives Left-Wing Ambush
Green, no stranger to controversial theatrics, had previously been ejected from Trump’s joint session address earlier this year for heckling the president. This time, he claimed Trump’s military response to Iranian threats was an “unauthorized declaration of war.”
“I did not come to Congress to be a bystander,” Green declared in a fiery statement Tuesday morning. “Trump is dragging us into war without the people’s permission.”
But House Democrats weren’t buying it.
An overwhelming number of them—including Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark, and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar—voted to shut down the resolution before it could gain momentum. Their decision reflects a growing divide between party leadership and the increasingly vocal far-left led by figures like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
AOC had joined Green in calling for impeachment over the Iran strikes, but her effort fell flat.
Trump Fires Back with Classic Trump
President Trump, never one to ignore a political jab, blasted the progressive push in a scathing Truth Social post, mocking Ocasio-Cortez and hinting at trouble in her own political future.
“She better start worrying about her Primary before trying to beat Cryin’ Chuck Schumer,” Trump wrote. “Their poll numbers are the lowest in Congressional history. Go ahead and try impeaching me—I dare you!”
Democrats Caught in the Crossfire
Tuesday’s vote put House Democrat leaders in a bind—forced to choose between placating their progressive wing or maintaining national stability during an international crisis. For now, they’ve chosen the latter.
“This is a dangerous moment,” Jeffries admitted during a press conference Monday, carefully dodging questions about supporting Trump’s impeachment. “The Trump administration must justify its actions to Congress. That’s step one.”
Even as the progressive fringe cries foul, establishment Democrats appear unwilling to risk political capital challenging Trump’s wartime decisions—especially with public opinion shifting in the president’s favor following the decisive Iran strikes.
Background: Trump’s Iran Strike Sparks Political Firestorm
Over the weekend, President Trump ordered targeted bombings of key Iranian nuclear sites, calling the move essential to halting the regime’s threat to U.S. allies. The strikes followed heightened tension in the region and intercepted intelligence suggesting imminent action by Tehran.
While the Pentagon labeled the mission a success with “zero American casualties,” left-wing Democrats have claimed it was conducted without congressional approval—a claim refuted by Trump loyalists who argue that protecting American interests abroad is well within the president’s executive authority.
Bottom Line
With 128 Democrats effectively shielding Trump from an impeachment attempt led by their own party, Tuesday’s vote reveals more than just bipartisan cooperation—it shows that even in today’s hyper-polarized political climate, some members still draw the line at radical overreach.
As one senior GOP aide told us, “This wasn’t just a vote to save Trump. It was a vote to save Congress from becoming a circus.”
Stay tuned—this impeachment stunt may be dead, but the progressive war on Trump is far from over.

Al Green is full of it. The Iranians have threatened to assassinate Trump and he has every right to defend himself and his country. I am so tired of people going after President Trump. Also if you don’t like the way things are going in this country then feel free to leave like so many have done. We don’t want your kind here. I am a loyal American and I stand by Trump!
This may indicate that some Dems might actually have some independent thought. I find that hard to believe considering their actions during the last 8 years but it may be possible. In any case, the Dem Party should be aborted for their incredible behavior allowing Biden to remain as president while he was mentally incompetent.
