CNN Meltdown: Anderson Cooper on the Brink as Trump-Era Conservative Star Takes Over

CNN’s longtime liberal darling Anderson Cooper is reportedly livid as the network pivots toward its new breakout star — unapologetic conservative firebrand Scott Jennings — and the fallout is rattling the newsroom.

Sources tell us the $18 million-a-year anchor is spiraling behind the scenes, threatening to walk out after being pushed to the sidelines while Jennings — a frequent defender of President Donald Trump’s policies — becomes the face of CNN’s ratings revival.

“He Feels Like a Ghost”

Cooper, now 58, is said to be seething over what insiders describe as a “total loss of control and influence” at the flailing network.

“He used to be the king of CNN,” one insider told us. “Now? He feels like a ghost — ignored, overruled, and forgotten.”

The tension reportedly reached a boiling point earlier this summer when CNN executives chose Jake Tapper and Dana Bash to co-moderate the network’s June presidential debate instead of Cooper — a decision that allegedly triggered an “epic meltdown.”

“He thought it was a given that he’d moderate that debate,” a senior staffer said. “But the execs didn’t want someone so openly partisan. They’re trying to win back trust with middle America — and Anderson didn’t make the cut.”

Jennings’ Rise Fueled by Trump-Era Ratings Boom

While Cooper broods, Scott Jennings is thriving.

The 47-year-old Kentucky native — a former George W. Bush advisor and regular Trump defender — now anchors CNN NewsNight, where his no-nonsense, right-leaning commentary has sparked record engagement.

“Scott’s the only reason some viewers even tune in anymore,” one network producer admitted. “He’s brash, he’s blunt, and he gets people talking. Execs are building entire segments around him — and Anderson hates that.”

Jennings, who frequently clashes with liberal guests and pulls no punches in defending conservative values, has become a viral fixture. “He’s not afraid to call out the left, even on CNN,” another insider said. “It’s refreshing for viewers sick of coastal elites lecturing them.”

A Network in Decline

As Jennings soars, Anderson Cooper 360° is crashing.

Ratings have tanked, especially in the coveted 25-54 demographic. Viewers are turning away from CNN’s once-flagship show in droves, and insiders say Cooper refuses to acknowledge his shrinking influence.

“Anderson doesn’t handle criticism well,” said one source. “He still thinks he’s above the fray — but CNN isn’t playing the same game anymore.”

Behind the scenes, Cooper has reportedly brought in power agent Bryan Lourd of CAA, signaling that he’s preparing his next move — potentially in streaming, publishing, or even politics.

“He’s done pretending he fits at CNN,” said a former producer. “He’s already looking for his next chapter — and he wants it to be classy, intellectual, and far away from Scott Jennings.”

“Scorched-Earth” Exit?

What worries CNN staffers most isn’t Cooper leaving — it’s how he might do it.

“There’s real fear he’s planning a scorched-earth exit,” said a veteran anchor. “He’s been with the network 24 years. If he writes a tell-all, it’ll be ugly.”

Some speculate that Cooper could expose internal chaos at CNN, including editorial bias, crumbling morale, and the behind-the-scenes power struggle over the network’s post-Trump identity.

But Jennings isn’t worried.

When asked about the reported tension, he quipped, “I’m just here to speak the truth — and if that ruffles feathers, so be it.”

Bottom line: As CNN tries to reinvent itself under Trump’s second term, Anderson Cooper may be the next liberal legacy figure pushed out — while Jennings’ rise shows the network knows exactly where the ratings are coming from: America’s heartland.

  1. I don\’t watch tv, I don\’t own one, but Scott Jennings sounds like just another commentator spouting nonsense to an audience mired in stupidity.

  2. \”Gloria\’s little boy\” wouldn\’t have a job if not for her and if he writes a book he should make it a short first run because, outside his family, I don\’t believe he\’s going to have a lot of buyers.
