“If you don’t stop this now, there won’t be a Europe left.”
President Donald J. Trump touched down in Scotland on Friday and immediately issued a fiery rebuke of European leadership over what he called the “horrible invasion” of illegal immigration that’s tearing the continent apart.
Standing on the tarmac at Prestwick Airport with Secretary of State for Scotland and U.S. Ambassador Warren Stephens flanking him, Trump didn’t hold back.
“Mass migration is killing Europe,” Trump declared. “You better get your act together or there won’t be a Europe anymore.”
America First, Europe Fumbles
Fresh off six months back in office and with the U.S. southern border virtually sealed, Trump highlighted the stark contrast between his administration and the chaos gripping Europe.
“Last month, not a single illegal crossed into our country. Not one,” he said. “We shut it down. And we removed thousands of violent criminals Biden let in.”
While European nations continue to be swamped by illegal crossings—many coming across the English Channel in overpacked dinghies—Trump touted his own border success story as the gold standard.
Under Biden, the U.S. saw surges of 8,000–10,000 illegal entries per day, culminating in a record-breaking 249,785 apprehensions in December 2023 alone. Trump didn’t mince words when asked about his predecessor.
“Biden was a total stiff,” Trump said. “And what he allowed to happen to our country was disgraceful.”
Europe Under Siege
The United Kingdom alone has already seen over 22,000 illegal crossings this year—up nearly 60% from 2024. And while net migration dipped in 2024, the numbers remain historically high.
“This is a full-blown invasion,” Trump said. “And while some European leaders have shown real backbone, most are just letting it happen.”
Though he declined to name specific countries, sources close to the president say he praised Hungary and Poland in private—two nations led by populist, tough-on-border governments aligned with Trump’s worldview.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been a staunch ally, repeatedly slamming open-border globalism and defending Europe’s Christian identity.
On Trade and Allies
Trump’s five-day U.K. visit includes meetings with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Scottish First Minister John Swinney. He also plans to visit his golf resorts in Turnberry and Aberdeen.
But it’s not just about tee times.
Last month, Trump signed the “Economic Prosperity Deal” with the U.K.—a breakthrough trade agreement slashing tariffs and bolstering manufacturing on both sides of the Atlantic.
“I like your prime minister,” Trump said. “He’s a little more liberal than I am—most people are—but he got the deal done. Twelve years in the making.”
The president also announced plans to meet European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to negotiate a broader U.S.–EU trade agreement.
“That would be the biggest trade deal of them all,” he said. “If they’re smart enough to make it happen.”
A Warning to the West
As waves of illegal migrants continue washing up on European shores, Trump’s warning was crystal clear: the West is under siege, and failure to act will be fatal.
“Immigration is killing Europe. It’s not just a crisis—it’s a collapse in slow motion.”
Trump’s America, on the other hand, is back to building walls, cutting deals, and putting its own citizens first.
The president is scheduled to return to Washington early next week, where he will meet with DHS officials to review continued enforcement of the Border Security Emergency Order signed in February.
